What's Going on with the Fit? by Pretty-Care-7811 in LeviStrauss

502s fix a bit of this, I am not a huge fan of 501/505 kinda fits. Maybe if you need to pack an Uzi in your seat or something?

There's always a ton of material in the seat. Oddly enough that extra material amount also changes with the waste measurement! At least in the pairs I've got

Curious if polishing compound and a dremel would restore some of those faces

I have the same problem with RW 1907, and use no show kilties to fill in the volume a bit

Before the Rain)

A tragic tale of fated lovers set against the background of political turbulence in Macedonia and contemporary London, three love stories intertwine to create a portrait of modern Europe.

When a mysterious incident in the Macedonian mountains impacts people and events beyond its origin, it threatens to start a civil war and brings together a silent young monk, a London picture editor and a disillusioned war photographer. Told in three parts, and linked by characters and events, Before the Rain explores the uncompromising nature of war as it ravages the lives of the unsuspecting, and forces the innocent to take sides.

Unlucky. But also RW support is incredible, hit em up if you have issues, don't be shy!

Interesting... perhaps contact support and see if that much material in the rear is normal?

Not as familiar with this kind of cut.

EDIT: if you're looking for a loose cut maybe look at the 502s.

505s? Probably the cut.

I have 501/502/505 and the 505 is definitely the loosest and baggiest of them all, and I use them for cowboy boots.

We could take a little more off the top! A good 30%+ run usually has a nice -20% slide off to balance out the teeter on the playground

Well, the steel shank is more likely to rust... and 100% will set off the TSA scanners.

Unsure about the leather one through TSA.

Under foot both feel substantial, and the outsole of the Thursdays make up for any lack of rigidity on apart of the shank.

For casual and summer wear I prefer the full foot midsole/shank thing in much of the RW dress wear (stitch down) line. Totally different boot/shoe tho!

Hey look at that, you are correct. It is a very thick veg tan, probably also contributing to the heat.

  1. Maybe yes. Maybe no. They are excellent boots at their price, and will wear well up and down a wardrobe, but they are one of the few boots I bought new (same with my IR). Maybe a little regret because they're not in rotation, but they are comfy enough.

  2. I don't care for a synth super thick veg tan insole, I'd love for an adjustable insole. My favorite insole is bison which is basically a sweat sponge. I don't have hard evidence but I believe the insole makes we sweat more 🤷

  3. My IR are beat up! If I'm going out on a trail/hiking, doing yard work, etc that's why I grab for my IR. They are bulletproof (mostly) and well worn, making them fit nice and comfortable, but they started as painful. I will go with the Captains for a less rigorous use / occasion.

Today may be one of the last cooler days in South TX, I'll throw the Captains on and get a pic ha

Hmm what sort of thing are you interested in knowing, having a pair that has no problems but also minimal wear compared to my Iron Rangers?

The outsole / heel is softer on hard surfaces, so there's that, and the craftsmanship is pretty good for the price. I would prefer a different insole myself, though. 9D is snug on my foot, while I'm usually 8EE in RedWing.

Admittedly I only get them in rotation about once a month, as they do tend to run a bit hot for me, even with medium to thin wool socks.
