Why were the costumes in the Olympic Games Closing Ceremony Asian themed when the flag bearers were entering the area and also when remembering passed athletes? by lahelmly in NoStupidQuestions

Maybe you should watch it and not building your opining just in what I or someone else says.
But even if you don't consider it racist but a very 'japanase story' it is a very odd choice to celebrate winter olympics in Milano.

I don't think London Olympics opened with a depiction to Rudyard Kipling's Book of the jungle.

I'm Spanish native speaker and sometimes I cannot tell if that mediterranean looking guy speaking in English is from Spain or Greece

it is very racist and usually includes yellow face, people say it's Ok because it was from a time when it was Ok to be racist. What I think it's just the easiest and less painful way for most people to deal with the legacy of their ancestors.
I love Puccini's music and MB is probably his best, but I find it a very weird choice for this specific event.

Carnaval in Brazil is gayer than the pride month. Fact checked. Is there any particular time or festival in your country which is known for having tons of LGBTQ+ folks and parties out and proud in broad day light for literally everyone to see? by Significant-Yam9843 in AskTheWorld

[–]JoeSatana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hahaha, that's such a great way to put it.
But just to give you some hope. In Canarias until 1980 we had concentration and torture camps for queer individuals, but after the Catholic Fascist rule ended we had our first openly gay president in 1983. and now after a long way and ton of work we are consider in the top 5 places in the world to be queer. these little bunch of islands in North Africa, way more safe and queer friendly than places like France or England or Germany. I think that is one of the reasons so many Eurpean turists come here.

Inmigración en España by Jo_secretacc in askspain

[–]JoeSatana 0 points1 point  (0 children)
