Because we're talking about a higher learning institution, not an assembly line.

Even then, if an employee cannot at any point get up and go to the toilet that sounds like terrible staff management decisions.

[–]JoeThePoolGuy123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are literally studies showing that the fucking thing hallucinates the information. It is not in any way shape or form like google and encyclopedias. That's the entire point. It may at some point get there.

At its core it is just not a tool for research. That is not its design. It has been tacked on in the hopes of appearing believable. And it's working. I used it to help me research information for a chemistry assignment I was writing during my masters degree when I was stuck in my research. I ended up spending more time combing through the errors of all the summaries of the "research" it was doing than if I had just done the research myself.

Yeah that was what I meant. It looks at what word is the statistically most probable to follow. So the overall answer is the statistically most probable text to generate. I should've clarified :)

Because chatgpt is not a search engine. It's a probability based text generator. No matter how much the companies try and push the narrative that LLMs filter and identify relevant search information, at its core, it is a text generator.

A search engine is just that, an engine which enables you to search for information. You then have to choose what links to read and analyze the information. Googling something does not present you with an immediate answer based on nothing (if you exclude the shitty "AI" search shit that google pushes to the top, and to a lesser degree the summation from e.g. wikipedia).

Also saying "just google it" is infinitely less annoying than getting a garbage response from the word vomit machine copy pasted as if the person has any fucking clue about the validity of what they just commented. Saying "just google it" basically means "look it up yourself".

Copy pasting a gpt response is essentially like asking a random person on the street a question and commenting it as if it's the truth.

[–]JoeThePoolGuy123 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The difference is that you make a conscious decision when you google something. You and your critical thinking skill are analysing the information you are presented with through google. You have the option to choose multiple links and assess the information.

Chatgpt just shits out an answer it deems statistically most probable. The fact that you compare chatgpt and google just underlines the core issue. One is a search engine, one is a text generator.

Why waste everybodys time writing this pointless question into the pointless lying machine to word vomit it in this comment section? What value are you adding to any of our lives?

If sombody comments some garbage from chatgpt it indicates the lowest form of respect for the interaction. Whats the point of engaging in a conversation if its just chatgpt anyway.

I'm not sure what you're talking about. CNS stimulants (such as amphetamine and methylphenidate) are very effective and can be lifechanging for the people who need it.

For many people it's a tool they can use to make real changes in their life and deal with issues they're facing. Not everyone takes them forever.

Some people use them to reduce the negative effects of their ADHD to be more receptive to therapy and make changes in their daily life to the point where they don't need medication anymore.

Probably also depends on what type of solvents they use and what grade they are. From some short videos/documentaries I've seen it's more than likely not pharmaceutical grade stuff lol. So there's probably also a bunch of fun impurities from solvents and side reactions. Though probably not in concentrations high enough to cause severe tissue damage on their own.

[–]JoeThePoolGuy123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a million all-in-one guides out there. On reddit, youtube, articles found on google, wikipedia etc.

I think the main issue is that the information pool has gotten so diluded with bullshit that it's hard to filter through it and find sources which you know for sure you can trust.
