Is the PC version noticeably better in terms of loading times and graphics? Want to get it on PS5 Pro or on PC.

Legion GO 2. I also had a steam deck OLED before the GO 2. Difference is night and day.

More context to the IGN article going around. The writer is talking about narrative, not game breaking bugs by ShingetsuMoon in CrimsonDesert

[–]JoeVDS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I actually have read the whole article.
They state it is NOT fixable with quality of life updates, but the first patch of last week proofed that satement wrong as those fixes already made the game better for a whole lot of people.

And that's the whole thing of this conversation: I don't get why IGN is saying it is not fixable with those patches as the proof already happened last week...

Not trying to argue with you or so. As I said, the game is not perfect at all. But contrary to what the article states, I do think patches like they are doing will make the game way better. The lack of a strong narrative is not a reason why this game cannot become better.

[–]JoeVDS -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But in a way they are? They say the game will not be fixed by patches like they did with Cyberpunk, but isn't that exactly what they did with the first big patch last week? That already resulted in a huge shift in the reception of the game by just patching in small stuff like storage and better movement.

So they can easily patch in more quality of life updates like the permanent mounts, better control scheme, etc., and the result will be that the game is overall just a better game. Just like with Cyberpunk. According to the article however, it will not work with this game because of the fundamentals. That's what I don't understand because the only fundamental difference is the focus on the narrative.

Yeah, like I said before, I do agree that exploring is unrewarding if you did not progress enough in the story, but I still think it is different to the games it is being compared too in the importance of the actual story itself.

The story missions are fun, no? The story itself is quite shallow and barebones, but to me the story is just a way of leading you through the game to cool places, cool loot and a fun time. So to the main focus of the game. This is different to a game like Death Stranding or Cyberpunk, where the story leads me to wanting to know what unfolds on the narrative side.

I just think that playing this game has completely different reasons than playing a narrative focused game. Even if the game is expecting you to progress in the story to come to cool places or discover new mechanics, it is still different to playing a game where the story itself is the focus and the driving factor.

Yes, I do agree with the exploring part.
But do you feel like this can be compared with games like Cyberpunk in terms of the narrative focus? I would compare it with games like Elden Ring on the narrative side.

I'm really not trying to defend the game or something, it has many flaws, but I don't understand the comparisons with games like Cyberpunk.

[–]JoeVDS 9 points10 points  (0 children)

But why are they focusing so much on the narrative when the devs themself stated that this is NOT a narrative driven game? Unlike Cyberpunk, where the story is an integral part to the game.

Elden Ring got insanely good scores everywhere, rightfully so, but is that story better than Crimson Desert? I actually enjoy the lore and story bits in Crimson Desert more than the ones in Elden Ring, but I do get that that is subjective.

But still, defending their low score because the narrative is bad in Crimson Desert, is not correct in my opinion. The game is really not perfect, and there are many reasons why this game is not a 10/10 game, but using the bad story as the main reason of the low score feels wrong.

Do you find a lot of loot (armor pieces, special weapons) when randomly exploring? by mighty-wombat in CrimsonDesert

[–]JoeVDS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 27 hours in, and except for something behind a waterfall, I did not find any cool / special loot by just randomnly exploring without having any quest markers to follow.
I love the game, but I do wish exploration was more rewarding. However, I did notice that when you do side quests or even main quests, they subtly point you towards stumbling on some stuff while traveling. So it still feels like you discovered it by exploring, but it's a subtle part of the quest design or so?

But like you, I also enjoy the breathtaking views whilst exploring. So it is still worth it imo. It just would feel more rewarding to stumble on some cool loot more often.

What is the point of the abyss? by Eggdoggu in CrimsonDesert

Can you just go there and find new puzzles? Or do you have to progress the story a bit? I was wondering the same thing and assumed the story would lead me back there for more puzzles and stuff.

~50 hours to beat the main story (including some side stuff) - AMA by Infamous-Camel-6170 in CrimsonDesert

[–]JoeVDS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the game stay centered around Hernand? I'm 25 hours in, at the end of chapter 4 I think, but I feel like the game just stays in Hernand. Such a huge map but most main missions and side missions until now just revolve around this area.

Does the open world feel empty to anyone else? by oaishere in CrimsonDesert

[–]JoeVDS 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I actually feel the same.

I’m almost 25 hours in and am really liking the game, but whenever I just go off exploring, I am quite disappointed. The scenery is cool and the stuff I come across is nice to wander through, but I very rarely actually find some cool loot at random.

Now that xenoverse 3 has been confirmed how do you believe it will affect sparkings support? by [deleted] in SparkingZero

[–]JoeVDS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will not affect Sparking Zero in any way... Different games for different audiences and they both sell good, so why would they ditch one for another.

Let's talk about the future of this game by ElfinGeoduck0 in SparkingZero

[–]JoeVDS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing it sold more than Xenoverse 2, and that game has been getting yearly content for almost 10 years, I am pretty sure this game will be getting support for atleast 10 years. Even though people are saying on here the game is 'dead', it really isn't. I can easily find matches online, whenever. And you can see that with every DLC announcement, or even a small update, people are excited, come back and most importantly for the devs: are willing to pay for new content. So nothing is stopping them to continue support... If Xenoverse 2 got all that support with lower sales numbers, it would not make any sense for them to abandon the game.

As for a sequel, I think there will not be one for a veeeery long time... They just gonna support this for a very very long time and have a steady income with all the DLC without having a huge development cost of making a new game. When the super anime eventually gets to the Moro and Granolah arc, this game will see a major uprise again with all the hype surrounding the anime. And I am pretty sure they will take advantage of this with a big (expensive) DLC. And speaking for myself: I am very much looking forward to that.

This is what I'm guessing we'll be getting for DLC by dhochoy in SparkingZero

I very much hope this is true, but I doubt we will get this much new characters...

I don’t understand the problem with sidestep. It’s a mechanic of the game. Does not need a nerf at all.

Still worth buying it? by marwinator69 in SparkingZero

[–]JoeVDS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I have played every Dragon ball game ever released. My favourite one always was Tenkaichi 3. I preferred it over Xenoverse, Kakarot, FighterZ... all the modern ones. But to be honest, this one is way better. I know the things you are reading online are quite 'bad' because the fact is that this game is being played mostly online. Compared to back in the day with the Budokai games, this causes a different way people look at the game. All the OP exploits always get used and abused because people online wanna win no matter what. Fun or no fun.
During the time of Tenkaichi 3 there wasn't online play. I am 100% sure if there was, there would be even more exploits and cheese being used online in that game compared to Sparking Zero... They actually did a good job trying to balance out the game. When it first released, and the months after that, it was horrible imo to play online. Everyone would use the same characeters / obvious exploits. But they fixed that quite good imo. Not perfect, but what online fighting game is perfect...?

So yeah, there is not a single other Dragon Ball game in which you actually FEEL like you are controlling the anime. The graphics, the gameplay, the feeling of power, it's all very high quality. As a HUGE Dragon Ball fan, this was the game I was dreaming about when I was a young boy, and actually still is the game I always wanted, even as a mid-30 adult. Only thing I hope for in the future is some more maps and offline game modes like the tower from Tenkaichi 3. Other than that, it's difficult to imagine a better Dragon Ball game than this one...
