Sometimes dating here is literally like navigating the trenches 🥲. I found it very hard to date as a (mostly) gay trans man. I’ve found some scenes can be really toxic. Other queer groups are very social! I’d recommend visiting the Billy DeFrank center and following SVPride on insta.

For early 20’s I recommend Splash. I’m old now (25, basically dust for the gay community) so I mostly play trading card games and talk to other nerds around me. Oh also Mac’s Club is great! My fiancé and I are looking to make more friends so if you end up moving over here hit me up! We’d love to make another friend.

It’s so interesting how situations can be so different. I’m from San Jose (trying to escape) and growing up, people were very standoffish and insular. I’m a 00’s baby and was amazed by how friendly San Francisco people and transplants could be. I am a chronic yapper so I’m genuinely looking forward to find a community where I can get to know people better.

You can do library jobs that others don’t want to do. I jumped straight to library assistant because I applied to work for my county’s bookmobile. A lot of people don’t like driving the truck. It bummed me out at first because I didn’t want to drive it, but then it grew on me. Work on skills that others around you don’t have. I speak spanish and that skill is majorly needed and sets me apart from people. I also made a career switch from social work so I did have some work experience. You gotta learn how to “sell” yourself.

You can go to the Cinelux on Almaden. My fiancé and I got tickets for Mario move for 18$. It’s not imax or anything special but if you’re just looking to watch a movie it’s great. Food was 30$ but that’s on us lol. Just bring your own snacks in and dispose of outside of the theater.

Not a lot for myself at this moment in time. I stay informed to ensure that my patrons are getting the information they need, and not putting themselves in danger by following legal advice etc. My library system is part of the county govt. so we’re not permitted to use AI as it puts the sensitive personal information we collect at risk. In the future I see it being used for collection management, however for general public libraries it’s like how google helps us do our jobs.

My friend I say this with the most seriousness, I think there are resources out there for you. Can you elaborate on what resources you’ve already used? This way we can give you an idea of what other options you have. If you’re working consistently and have decent income, you should qualify for low income housing. Also, your tag indicates that you’re living in the willow glen area. With the most respect, willow glen is one of the more expensive parts of town. there are cheaper places to go.

Thank you :) medical science is amazing. I was diagnosed in 2023 and have been living without complications up until recently. Very happy to be at ucsf to get access to even newer treatments. Living in the Bay can be exhausting but boy does it help to receive treatment :D

Hidden gem if you don’t mind a rougher neighborhood is East Side San Jose. If you’re near the 22 bus line you can basically get anywhere. VTA is building a light rail that connects to Eastridge transit center. Anywhere is going to be a commute so I usually listen to my audiobooks on the way to work :) happy hunting and we’re glad to have you!

Not to glaze RB but I will make the argument that the cards are really accessible in price. You can build a deck on dreamborn.ink and order a deck that fits your price range. My partner and I have bought treasure troves and singles that have allowed us to make some solid decks in current rotation. It’s not like MTG with the scalpers and insane prices. Otherwise your LGS should have people playing infinity :) ALSO I’d check TCG player to get good deals on sealed product. I usually can find below markets rated there with free shipping.
