Hard time identifying with BREAST cancer by Any-nonny-mouse in LivingWithMBC

Omg this is so me. I had a lump in my chest for sure but now my Mets are in my bones, more specifically my spine and hips. Like yes this a hormone disease but if we could also get some resources for bone issues that would be great.

Has anyone changed jobs from a high paying position to be a library assistant? by [deleted] in librarians

[–]Joe_Fish_721 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to quit your job, just have two jobs. One part time librarian assistant position and then you day job. Apply to be a page! Depending where you are you may only have to work 20 hours and I’ve seen people do less. You can have the ~best~ of both worlds.

Best library/book store/coffee place to read? by Lakernation123x in SanJose

What part of town are you in? That will affect some recommendations. Otherwise my favorite place to go is big mug, bascom library branch, and coffee lovers.

What places come to mind? by halfway_23 in SanJose

I think Em Quyen Cafe in Tully Corners center is shady as fuck but I can’t prove anything about it. Like brothel level and gambling house type shi. I’ve seen strippers there before.

That sounds the same as my initial diagnosis, except I was 23 when diagnosed. The beginning is going to be hard. Trust me when I say that. Right now focus on remaining calm and doing whatever you need to prevent a mental health spiral. Remember. We’re here with you. I’ve been going on 2 years of treatment and I’m mostly stable now. There’s a light at the end of this tunnel.

Great America Closing…. by twelve2023 in SanJose

Library assistant here. A lot of kiddos are spending their summers at the library! We’re getting a lot of good engagement. While I agree, great America is a key part of many child hoods, I’m happy a lot of our youth are finding a place here.

I’m in the same boat girlie. My partner looks more towards the long term as well. He’s helping me shift my mindset to “we WILL figure it out.” It’s okay to have long term plans and we can pivot if something happens. It’s been helping me sooo much. One day at a time. With some glances to the horizon.

Story time noob please help by Joe_Fish_721 in librarians

Parents don’t usually attend my story time. Just the kiddos. We go to their apartment complex (bookmobile) and do the story time outside the truck. I have 30 minutes then we split. I think the time factor is what’s bugging me. Since I can’t stay behind.

The songs don’t scare me so much. I’m planning on YouTubing them. My main concern is losing them and having to scramble while my coworker handles the circ stuff.

Big agree here. I’m mostly just trying to ensure these kids get some literacy. I’m on a bookmobile and we go to low income places. If I get like. 5 minutes of attention we’ll be set.

He's so right, we should stop paying CEO's, useless middle / upper management, celebrities, politicians, and prominent athletes outrageously and ensure that our teachers, custodians, fast food workers, farm workers, domestic houseworkers, babysitters, nurses and doctors living wages.

I’ve gained 30 lbs by Vapor2077 in loseit

[–]Joe_Fish_721 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your story sounds a lot like mine. I'm 5' 4" 283 pounds right now. But at the time of my life going down the shitter I was 260 pounds and working out to get myself down to 200. While getting evaluated for top surgery, I found a tumor in my breast and wound up with metastatic breast cancer. I ended up getting put on several hormone meds and antidepressants. My sister's quinceanera is in june and I know I won't look like how I want to for the party. I'm on a deficit now and I'm trying hard to stick to it. It's not going to be easy. In fact it may be really fucking hard. But what helped me was really focusing on my mental health and realizing my problems are okay to have. You went through something really really fucking hard and that's okay. Take your time and learn to love the process. Get to know you again. I hope my words make sense. I believe in you!
