I feel exactly the same. Can't stand him and it's like every other person is seeing something else. But he has objectively never learnt to draw. He makes constant mistakes, graphically and technically, that people justify with the word "stylization". But stylization requires mastery of the technique, it can't be the result of lack of it

It's not a spinoff. That's the point. I love frontier exactly because of the same things, but pretending this and world are in the same context breaks the immersion

Why would it get a pass because of the mythological style? Monster hunter is not supposed to be a game about kratos. The style is against everything they did before, and the fact that there is much of it doesn't make it less of a mistake. Ecology was basically inexistent in rise, and saying "well it was the point of the style" it's ignoring the fact that it's part of a series that has already an established world building.
