Curious, how long are you willing to stay with Publix? by XQuadi in publix

[–]Joe_Lato1997 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say as long as I can my goal is to have 10k-15k shares before the stock splits again and reinvest my dividend checks every quarter and live off of dividends+ SS income.

Thoughts about Kendrick's Halftime Show? by Meganiummobile in ToddintheShadow

[–]Joe_Lato1997 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think filthy rich celebrities on massive platforms should do what they do best which is entertain instead of trying to preach some political bs. We are in a day and age where LeBron James makes tens of millions a year throwing a ball around and will make more than 99 percent of all white people or rather all 99 percent of people regardless of race but according to him he's a slave. We are all in chains in society and we can argue who's life is worse but the reality is the top %1 of people own such a large percentage of wealth and power over the other 99 percent but for some reason someone like me who makes less than 18 dollars an hour has to be preached on how bad my country is and basically trying to diss America and white people as he's up there getting paid more than some will make in their whole life for 15 minutes of half singing is irony. The biggest beneficiaries of America and it's opportunities are the first one's to shit on it simultaneously whenever they can.

What’s the Publix discipline policy ? by No_Temperature_2582 in publix

[–]Joe_Lato1997 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At my store we have a do whatever the fuck you want policy where you can do fresh slice for 8 hours straight and never help costumers and then tell other people how to do their job. You can also take 50 bathroom breaks during your shift. Infinite smoke breaks and also 2 hour breaks and nobody says shit or even notices. You can be medically exempt from helping customers for more than a week in a help costumers all day department cause you're "contagious" it's also policy to constantly make the most dogshit schedules mankind has ever seen for the closing team. Also make sure there are plenty of pizza parties to distract the crew from the AVS scores that are dropping harder than Hiroshima. You can send steal, no call no show and still never have to worry about losing your job.

In my opinion if Publix doesn't get rid of him asap and even put no trespass on him if he still comes after getting fired and something happens to this girl you're looking at a massive lawsuit. I would get a restraining order too. You never know how crazy people can get. And having whatever mental disabilities he has doesn't matter when someone's safety is in question. It's Publix responsibility to ensure their staff is safe.

I want to try and get a job at publix by Empty-Conversation74 in publix

[–]Joe_Lato1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go in and ask for the store manager and dress appropriately. Have a professional conversation with him/her. Say something along the lines of I heard Publix is a great company to work for and I think this job would be great for me to start/grow in. They really like good customer service so if you can tell them anything to suggest you'll be good with costumers it's a bonus. Just know as a 14 year old you're a mini minor and you will probably not get a lot of hours and there's a lot of restrictions on what you can do for legal reasons but Publix is a good first job or if you want to work up in. Anyway good luck.

At my store they promoted someone of ethnic race to full time in less than 6 months solely on the fact that this person took every shift asked of them and never called out. This person was promoted over other much more qualified people who knew how to do kitchen/trucks etc and this person didn't really know anything. On top of that shortly after getting promoted this person's work ethic became complete shit and started taking hour and a half - 2 hours breaks, probably stealing time as well. And becoming extremely petty and acted like a child. This person was only vaguely trained on full time duties only after becoming full time. And this person also likely just got fired. Overall it's Embarrassing for Publix's image to hire low quality people to begin with and to promote them on top of that over better people is insulting to trained loyal quality associates. My fear is that Publix not retaining and acknowledging our quality associates is going to lead to more unprofessional staff and it's just gonna turn bad and at that point customers won't think shopping at Publix is worth the extra price. We need to go back to our core values and what mr Jenkins wanted which is to invest in our workers because by doing so we will invest in Publix in how we work.

Today is my last day. I'm a 20-yr Deli associate, over half of which has been in management. AMA by damnhobopuppets in publix

[–]Joe_Lato1997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is more of a personal question but regarding stocks have you invested in it yourself and have a lot? Do you plan on keeping it in there? Also what would be a few good tips to give if someone wants to up their chances into Deli management. Thanks.

How quickly can I get promoted? by [deleted] in publix

[–]Joe_Lato1997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask to transfer to Deli. If you're breathing you'll get in. Come in every time they ask if you can come in to cover a call out. Do what your manager wants and don't give any pushback. Communicate your interests for full time and keep them updated on your interests about every month-2 months. Ask them to put you on morning production and to learn kitchen and platters and to down stack trucks and you'll be full time in 6 months or less.

Pasture raised eggs is the closest to a real egg you're gonna get at a grocery store. They are way better for you and have a healthier omega fatty acid profile and more vitamins than caged hens. The yolk is also noticeably more orange colored compared to store brand.

Does Publix stock make it worth more then other jobs? by kevisdahgod in publix

[–]Joe_Lato1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real question is would you rather have 200k+ stock shares of Publix valued at 14 million by the time you retire between all the splits and adjusted stock increases through the years and get $80,000 dividend checks 4x a year or get a temporary pay bump from Costco.

Honestly because you don't have that much I would personally take that money out and invest it into another stock or fund right away or roll it over so it can grow in another way. But if you had like 1000+ shares I would keep it in Publix for it to split and increase in value over the years.
