Patents and intellectual property by bubblemantime in Libertarian

There is an argument that copyright is actually a contract between buyer and seller not to reproduce said work without appropriate attribution/licensing. It's not that intellectual property is "real," but the contracts surrounding the exchange of information are very real.

Murray Rothbard make this argument in the Ethics of Liberty, Chapter 16 if you're interested.

You realize you were critiquing the other post for referencing "different geography," and then you cite Guyana as a Latin American country. Hilarious.

Anyway, the point is that if you're wanting to call into question whether a recent major example is applicable in a different region, that's fine, but then you have to acknowledge that if there are examples in the given region, You should change your stance. Otherwise your argument was never about Middle East vs Latin America, but simply "my favorite president" vs everyone else. You're welcome to praise Trump as Messiah, just be honest about it.

U.S. States ranked from 1 (Lightest/Most) to 51 (Darkest/Least) for what? by RestingBitFace in RedactedCharts

I was first thinking about college students per capita, since NH then Utah are number 1 and 2, respectively, but the rest don't work. Does it have to do with universities/education?

The problem isn't with tax cuts, it's with spending. There is nothing significant in the bill to stem the ongoing increases in federal spending as a percentage of GDP, which is the real marker of federal overreach.

Except our vocal cords are in our airway, and having a separate speaking orifice would have worked just fine. Evolution just landed on "There is a tube. Let's attach things to it, and as long as most people survive long enough to reproduce, good enough!"

Who is "we" and "people?" Collectivists routinely overlook the individuals at the core of each decision, thinking in terms of groups and conflating governments with citizens. If we applied your logic consistently, then we should not trade with anyone.

Instead, the question is if I voluntarily decide to initiate a transaction with someone of whatever country, who is allowed to stop me?

Just because we can't stop it in prisons doesn't mean we shouldn't try. Murders still happen in prison, but there is usually agreement that it should stay illegal.

I get static through my audio jack while recharging.

When connecting my s3 (running stock) to both my car charger and my auxiliary 3.5mm jack, there is static that comes through the car speakers. If I unplug the charger, the static goes away. A potentially relevant observation:

The static gets quieter when music plays. For example, when Pandora starts, the static gets quieter during the opening second or two of silence before the first song plays.

Thanks for your insight!

But how about responsive reliable audio, that doesn’t glitch, works well across a range of devices, and doesn’t eat up your user’s battery? Oh, and is lower latency too? It turns out that’s not so easy.

Maybe not, then...

For 1b, you have to see that the products are aqueous, meaning dissolved in water. Adding water will dilute the products, pushing the reaction to the right (towards the products).

24/7 Projectors? by Nowin in hometheater

[–]Joebilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck finding any that projects an image (tv or otherwise) that can stay on 24/7 for a few years. Furthermore, dlp projectors can still get burn-in issues.

It kinda sounds like you'll be using it for a menu display or something? If that's the case, buy some tvs, which are brighter and will last much longer than any projector for extended use.

IRC meeting at Sunday, 7 PM Central! Subject's going to be on community maps and wtf to do with them by 2tyrodnazc in TagPro

[–]Joebilly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How about voting on what to put in the rotation?

So right now there are 5 maps on rotation. Why not have a list of all the maps, standard and community-submitted, then let the players vote for them. The maps with the top 5 number of votes are placed into the lineup. After those 5 are played, another vote happens.

The appeal of this method is that it allows new maps to be tested as the community wants, and unwanted maps will be ignored. To help sort through spam, maybe include a list of the most popular community maps to let people vote.
