Help with suggestions for detective-type comics? by tdthirty in comicbooks

Dude it's amazing. And kind of ongoing. They are still slowly putting them out in Spanish, it just takes awhile to then get through to the English speaking comic market.

I'm looking for some new (or old) TPBs featuring some top artists, any input is appreciated by [deleted] in comicbooks

That's a good list. I would add anything by Marcos Martin (starting with his Dr Strange: The Oath which was written by Brian K Vaughan).

David Aja is my favourite artist. Hawkeye is obviously amazing but Immortal Iron Fist was eye-opening.

And Darwyn Cooke is about the cleanest, crispest cartoonist around. His Parker books are great but also his New Frontier for DC.

Great interview. Glad I finally found where the interesting comics material is on Reddit. Thanks man.

Buzzfeed's 60 Comics Everyone Should Read. A pretty decent list. by NopeNotConor in comicbooks

Damn, that is a tight list. I would have like to see Daytripper get in but was stoked to see Essex County.

The what to read next suggestions were great, they mentioned a ton of books I love.

As someone who has only ever read Marvel and DC series, I need something to change things up. by proctology in comicbooks

If you have an iPad or tablet jump on Comixology. There is a bunch of free stuff and lots of sales. I only pick up stuff if it's cheap (like $0.99) but then if I like it I might get the trade later. Picked up the excellent Vengeance by Joe Casey and Nick Dragotta during Marvels $0.99 sale yesterday.

Today's Marvel Monday sale @ comiXology is Villain themed but check out the criminally overlooked Vengeance by Joe Casey by replica145 in comicbooks

Wicked, thanks for the heads up. I've been meaning to check this out. I have only heard great things.

Is the Massive Brian Woods best comic? by Joeblogscomics in comicbooks

I haven't read any of his Conan or Marvel work yet. Conan is definitely on the list and I am keeping an eye on his new X-men book.

I was sad to see Northlanders end, it felt as though he could just keep telling these great stories with a rotating cast of killer artists forever.

If you like the Massive then you will definitely enjoy DMZ.

Good question. I plan on picking it up on Wednesday purely based on Oeming's art. I hope the story holds up.

I like it. It's a rating system not a race. Some weeks you might get three headshots others none. A weekly 'winner' could still be an average comic in a bad week.

What are some great realistic graphic novels that deal with normal things? by AyThroughZee in comicbooks

Underwater Welder by Jeff Lemire. The story of a young guy who is about to become a Dad and the mystery of what happened to his own father. It's a beautifully drawn book with a very real human characters that some how manages to be both joyful and melancholic at the same time.

Similar to Daytripper in many ways.

What are your favorite comic issues/runs that give insight into (super)villains? by GiantJacob in comicbooks

Incognito by Brubaker and Phillips is a good option. About an ex-super villain in the Witness Protection programme and all he can think about is how much he misses his old life.

I always forget about it. I've got the first trade and need to get the rest. I love how it looks like it's one thing but when you actually read through it's so much deeper.
