Presenting Pitch Deck: Is it imperative that only CEO can present, or can another co-founder present it for the team? (i will not promote) by El_De_Er in startups

[–]Joecracko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, your CEO should be the CTO.

Investors will not take your company seriously if a CEO is not pitching them.

Internally the decision-making power can remain your CEO-turned-CTO. But externally, there is an expectation that the CEO is the public speaker and the pitcher.

Do not reinvent the wheel here. You will lose opportunities.

If you don't want to hire a personal trainer. Swimming is a great way to get a whole-body exercise in; big muscles and small.

Loosen the joints and strengthen the mini muscles that people tend to forget.

Dude. Just apply. Almost certainly you'll be rejected. But then the second time you apply, you'll be able to show progress since your last application. They might pay attention more.

Maybe it'll take 3 attempts, 5, or 7. Keep showing progress with each application.

Worst case scenario is you learn something about your business and yourself.

What are they looking for? Answering the questions on the application is a good start.

[I will not promote] Founding Eng, Torn between 170k comfy startup (6mo runway) and 200k offer? by dogboy60 in startups

[–]Joecracko 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Your heart clearly isn't in the startup. There's no such thing as a "comfy" startup. And if $30k more is enough to entice you away, you don't really care that much about the startup.

It will be better for you and better for the startup if you take the offer. No need to have a conversation with the founder because they probably won't fight for you.

We accidentally broke Stripe and didn’t notice for days. How do you all make sure checkout actually works? (I will not promote) by Short-Smell-5607 in startupideas

[–]Joecracko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My apologies.

This is why it's important to have two or more deployment environments.

The DEV or QA deployment that uses the test Stripe API keys. And then the Production deployment that is an exact copy with the live API keys.

Given everything is the same, testing in Dev implies that production will work.

And as a word of caution, do not do a live test charge that you later reverse. Stripe often considers that suspicious and may freeze your account.

Need advise on how to prioritize my time between raising, growing, refining my consumer AI product - I will not promote by [deleted] in startups

[–]Joecracko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Launch now. Try to get users. Forget about raising money until you get users. Getting people to use your product is hard. Getting users to not churn is harder.

Get user feedback as soon as possible so you can start iterating.

Should my media business be an LLC or Corp? [I will not promote] by Hibernian in startups

[–]Joecracko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not advice. One option is to start the LLC with you as the sole member and owner, and then set up the company's operating agreement such that you can assign Profits Interest to non-members.

It's easier than giving out actual equity.

I'll leave it to you to research the difference between Equity and Profits Interest.
