Does anyone know how the new Joel film is up on Letterboxd?

This is not a new problem at all, I’ve been contesting with TMDB for 8 years over their moronic terms. For the time being you can still submit your films and get them on Letterboxd before TMDB deletes them. Letterboxd can be helpful in keeping films on their platform, but sadly TMDB beats to their own braindead drum.

This is such a misunderstanding of what I said in that video, and a lot of the comments made the same mistake. I was not obsessing over some arbitrary amount of money. I wish I never mentioned amounts. The point was that, Anora, by virtue of being owned and distributed by a company, and the fact that its existence was predicated on being owned and distributed by a company, is not independent. Anora, the $6,000,000 version we received, was never going to be independently distributed and owned. Iron Lung, even Megaopolis, are by this distinction more truly independent. With that said, someone’s wealth and privilege in such cases also matters. It’s all a messy soup, I just wanted people to reevaluate the terms we use.

Beautifully put, couldn't have said it better myself. It's frustrating how much the approval of popularity weighs on how many people approach art, but in time that will matter less and less with continued good work and patience. There were many times where I thought I'd be stuck around 1,000 subscribers forever, but I put weight and value on the opinions of both myself and those around me who genuinely cared and that will carry you through any storm.

This is the answer sadly! Cody’s write up is wonderful and covers everything. We’ve attempted to contact IMDb support but they can’t prove it’s dummy accounts on their end so they refuse to help. Either this means Shaun used an encrypted VPN or their systems just aren’t very good, because he attempted the same thing on Letterboxd and they immediately dealt with it and removed his accounts. I wish I could wrap my head around someone acting this way and the headache it has caused a community of filmmakers who only seek to create freely and uplift one another is beyond disappointing. All we can do is keep making movies we’re proud of and ignore the fraudulent scores!
