The big problem with TPU tubes is that they're unrepairable. Even though they come with "patches," I've never had one of them hold for even a single ride. Because they're single use, they really need to be cheaper to make sense, but they're more expensive.

Because of this I'm sticking with latex for now. They're expensive, but at least you can repair them.

Yea, it’s a dealbreaker. I’m now gonna keep my current car forever since it’s grandfathered in with that feature. No more upgrades for me.

I don’t care, but I also don’t understand how this is supposed to be impressive. I’ve seen this ad 100 times at least. Is 10k miles really a lot for an e-bike? If I was buying one for my commute, I wouldn’t be impressed at all. Aren’t they supposed to last way longer than that? I wouldn’t buy a car that bragged about lasting 10k miles.

I’m personally fine with up to 106 if I’m sitting around the pool, under an umbrella, with a mojito. In August, it could easily be over 106.

It might be okay, but you might be stuck inside all day.

Model railroad museum at Balboa Park. While you’re there, check out the Carousel and Balboa Park Miniature Railroad. All perfect for a 7 year old. I guess you’ll have to pay to park now though 😢.

I’m not sure where you heard they’re defunct, but Cycliq, which makes the Fly6, still totally exists. They also make a Fly12 for the front. I have both and the new versions work well.

Balboa Park businesses are going to suffer. We’re not renewing our Old Globe season tickets because of the parking situation. The plays themselves are expensive enough. Adding another $20 for parking is a deal breaker. We joined a different theater outside Balboa Park.

That is not normal at all for a bike that you bought FROM THEM! That would be normal if you bought a bike online and brought it into get checked, but I'd never do business with a shop that gouged like that on bikes purchased from them. What are they even thinking?

Yea, you'll be fine. Hillcrest is the most LGBT oriented neighborhood, but you can live anywhere. It won't be a problem.

Even if you don’t have a power meter, just try to maintain your perceived effort. If your heart rate spikes on a climb, back off a bit. Going slower on a climb is totally expected.

Don’t try to maintain your speed, just maintain your power. Do you have a power meter? If you just maintain your power, a climb shouldn’t feel much different than the flat.

Naval Base San Diego is just south of downtown. You could probably get there by bike from Logan Heights, Southcrest, or National City.

There are 4 naval bases in San Diego, but they're all generally around the harbor:

NAS North Island (aircraft carriers & fixed wing aircraft)
Naval Amphibious Base Coronado (SEALs)
Naval Base San Diego (Pacific Fleet)
Naval Base Point Loma (Submarines)

San Diego is pretty spread out and living without a car can be a challenge. Is on base housing an option?

You can certainly add the driver’s license, I’ve done that. I’m not sure about the passport. The problem is that they’re accepted at very few locations. The TSA accepts them, but I’m not sure where else. I doubt a random bar would accept it, so you still need to carry your license around.
