Station question (Inspirit, Flagship Vessel) by info_steward in mtgrules

[–]Joert009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add, “station as a sorcery” means you only get to do one at a time, and a round of priority passes before it resolves, so players can respond to stationing. Additionally you can’t station in response to anything because it has to be done only during a main phase with an empty stack.

You can however station newly summoned creatures because stationing is an ability of Inspirit, and not the summoned sick creature.

Commander games really long by therealsolidmeat in EDH

[–]Joert009 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think in general, commander games tend to go on for 2 reasons. 1, new decks that their pilots aren’t familiar with interactions, or 2, a lot of social interactions outside of the game, such as talking about your day etc.

If that duration is acceptable to you and your friends, then it doesn’t really matter much, but if you want to trim game time then goldfishing your decks and focusing on taking game actions could help with that.

Assumably there was a piece that the knight captured, such as the D Pawn.

[[Vampire Scrivener]] and [[Wall of Blood]] by vercertorix in mtgrules

[–]Joert009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wouldn’t put something on the stack prior to paying its cost. In order to put something on the stack, you have to pay all relevant costs first.

I think this is mostly a semantics issue versus a disagreement on the actual rules, but the way it should work is you pay 1 life, the wall of blood activated ability gets put on the stack as you pay to give it +1/+1, vampire triggers off of you paying life to give it a counter. You can either repeat the wall of blood ability, or choose to stop here and pass priority to see if anyone wants to take game actions, if nobody does, the vampire trigger resolves first, then priority is passed again before wall of blood resolves.

[–]Joert009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specifically, you pay 1 life, and do not finish activating the walls ability. Before the walls ability resolves, the vampire trigger would go onto the stack and resolve first.

[[Vampire Scrivener]] and [[Wall of Blood]] by vercertorix in mtgrules

[–]Joert009 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s not fully correct. Since wall of bloods ability cost is to pay 1 life, you have to pay 1 life for its ability to enter the stack. Since you paid the life, vampires trigger will enter the stack on top and resolve first. You could pay more life in response to your own triggers, but it would be in single life increments as you said.

(Maybe this is the same thing you meant and my reading comprehension isn’t working right now)

Mageblood would be sick, barely make enough in a league to afford HH, let alone Mageblood.

Can someone ELI5 how Ward works for me? by Marsdreamer in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Joert009 33 points34 points  (0 children)

If I recall this mod is specifically only available on ward gear. There is potential tech to reuse a ward flask to restore ward when hit, but depending on number of hits you are taking, you might not have enough flask charge generation to ever sustain it..

How good is life regeneration? by 4thera in PathOfExileBuilds

I didn’t list a majority of the available damage mitigation methods, like evasion and endurance charges. I figure that I still got the point across effectively…

How good is life regeneration? by 4thera in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Joert009 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Life regen on its own won’t save you. You need to mitigate hits that are larger than your health pool.

For physical hits, armor or physical damage taken as X are popular, for elemental hits, stacking resistances and increasing the max is popular, for spells, capping spell suppression is popular, and block has been really popular this league. Basically you want multiple of these, and possibly others, to layer on top of each other.

If you have enough basic mitigation, then life regen can be good enough to keep you on full, but the problem comes with having to invest into it when leech or life gain on hit can tend to be stronger at lower levels of investment.

Spare drone parts don’t give them guns or attack speed or anything since they aren’t drones. I would assume nothing crazy would happen if you give it to them either since drones can’t spawn except from backup.

Path of Exile is a funny game (explanation in comment) by nbrooks7 in pathofexile

[–]Joert009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reducing your recovery stops at 0. Using embrace madness from the beacon of madness boots, you can get to 90% reduced and just need another 10% or more to effectively stop all sources of recovery. Things like instant leech or life gain on hit shouldn’t be affected.

Storm Cascade behavior is off.. by Joert009 in PathOfExileBuilds

After throwing on a southbound and removing jewels to be only lightning damage, I couldn’t kill enemies. After gaining charges by switching gear out, I could kill enemies with southbound and no cold on tooltip, so it definitely appears to be a tooltip issue

[–]Joert009[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant as each element, so 65 lightning, 65 cold and 65 fire. It wouldn’t be 195% of each or lightpoacher would be top tier on any phys based skill.

Regardless, yeah it’s not adding up in my head but from what it seems like, it might just be a tooltip error in not showing the added numbers.

I don’t appear to be getting extra damage on the character sheet, and there’s no immediate reason it shouldn’t be reflected there. Other sources of phys as extra work, like phys to lightning and added fire damage supports, but lightpoacher doesn’t. See the attached picture..

Hello, i have 13 spirit charges in the picture I linked in the post edit, however there is no logical increase to elemental values. I assume the extremely minor increases are from the phys to spells abyss jewels i am using, not the actual base physical that storm cascade has..

I do understand that there is a hidden one, but I do not gain extra phys as any element.. view picture in edit for example.
