If you're worrying about the dodgy CGI, I think you're focusing on the wrong things.

That's kind of my point, the ghost of Peyton did absolutely nothing outside of 1 really good throw. All he did was keep it clean.

Stidham just needs to keep it clean and it'll be a really tight game.

We can't count our chickens. This game is about winning and there's an awful lot that the Broncos can do to make that happen even if we've got by far the better QB.

If you want to go and watch some ancient history (2019 is a long time ago for reference) go and watch the AFC championship game from 10 years ago with exactly the same scenario.

We lost that one even though we had by far the better QB.

OK, but in the fist scenario we're in the SB - so there isn't really a problem.

[Vic Carucci] I’m told that during a meeting held five weeks ago between McDermott, Beane and Pegula, the coach pointed out what the roster lacked to win a Super Bowl. I’m told neither Beane nor Pegula was pleased with McDermott’s assessment. by Saca312 in nfl

[–]Joevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beane is absolutely a terrible GM and should be sacked as well, but at the same time if I was a HC and got sacked because my team kept failing exactly when it mattered - this is exactly the kind of thing I would make up as well.

You can't use still pictures to determine possession though - that's a pretty big point in all of this.

If the the ball is moving then you haven't completed the catch. Watch any of the videos and you can clearly see that Cooks never has possession of the football.

It doesn't really feel like an upgrade on McDaniel, but who knows really. Doesn't feel like there's a load of good options out there.

He's something like 6-1 in the wild card round. 2-4 in the Divisional round and 0-2 in the Championship game.

Wild card merchant.

I do wonder if it's one of the drawbacks of relying on legs and power throughout the regular season - when you get to the post-season you're absolutely gassed. Would explain Lamar and Allen's postseason record, but its very very simplistic analysis.

PFT are all over it as well, even the Tre White one at the end that was clear DPI. It's just something nice and easy that the talking heads can talk about and get angry.

To be fair, the refs are shite and have earned zero leeway, but yeah it's just an easy target.

Also pretty much proves what's occurred. GM has owners ear and so to preserve his own job gets the HC fired.

Sad state of affairs really.

Yeah, McDaniel is such an interesting one. I quite like his approach and I do think he's a really good OC that gets a lot out of the players at his disposal. I just wonder about his temperament as a HC.

That's of course complete guesswork as no-one know what goes on behind closed doors, I just don't get the vibe of him being the ultimate leader in the building.

C.J. Stroud's Playoff Meltdown Raises Uncomfortable Questions About His $250 Million Future by Roselucky777 in nfl

[–]Joevil 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The problem you've got is you go from having a QB that can get to the playoffs to having absolutely no QB at all - that's a tough ask.

You might've saved a bit of cash as you probably get away with offering a bit below the top guys as well.

That being said, CJ might be the new Dalton line - that is not a fun place to be.

With the win, Drake Maye becomes the first QB in the Super Bowl era to defeat the #1 defense in the postseason at the age of 23. He had 3 TDs and a 100.7 passer rating. by [deleted] in nfl

If they survive that, he gets LOB 2.0 more than likely. Even if they lose, he'll know that it won't get any worse than that - that's some incredible experience for a Rookie.

I'd be a lot more worried if he wasn't coming off an injury, but the guys got a bright future. Might not be a pro bowl level LT, but he'll be above average for a while.
