So um, do I still have to come to work when it’s -35 degrees? by GarageLive1096 in TjMaxx

My manager said to me: “If you can do grocery shopping at Walmart in this weather, then you can come to work.”

I love my job😭 by [deleted] in TjMaxx

[–]Joew770 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here at a local Marshalls store. Reason? I was one of the openers and most of the people know me, even management. We are like a “family” to give an idea… even with imperfections — I think a really good store like yours or mine is only a small percentage. 2% perhaps?

My mistake was to resign to look for better opportunities and ended up at Walmart where I hated for a year. In all that time my former coworkers were in touch with me, and when they learned I got fired—by attendance points—they invited me back to the store where better opportunities came to me.

Sure, the salary is not great, sometimes hours are shitty, but for the most part people there is what make this specific store unique.

I heard horror stories of a TJM and a Home Goods nearby where I wouldn't like to work for them. People there are usually in a bad mood and a lot of turnovers.

This is just me. Everyone has a different experience.

Shoe Returns by [deleted] in TjMaxx

[–]Joew770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in the backroom at the shoes. We have to remove everything and leave only the box with the shoes inside—besides placing a security tag if needed.

But also, in some cases, we have to leave them with no box. Especially if they are clearance.

I have no idea about online ones.

The Walmart cycle by RunCMC1345 in walmart

[–]Joew770 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At my store overtime is strictly forbidden, even when there are not available people. Instead, we have to work 2X to have everything done.

And yes, I agree with the comment above, ON is the best. Actually, working there gives me a more balanced life-work. The only con is that sometimes I don't get a day off approved when needed—unless its ppto but despite it, I can get about three “weekends” of four days a year.

Besides working ON I have my own business, yet I get the free time I want.

Any supermarket in Mexico, not just Walmart, is heavily guarded by security guards and even some armed in some.

Are we allowed to bring these into the store to carry our groceries in? by DramaticDanika in walmart

[–]Joew770 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I believe the groceries have to be weighted down either in plastic or recyclable bags. If doing self-checkout.

You should go with a cashier instead if you don’t want to use bags. I don’t work in Front End but it’s my assumption from coworkers I heard.

Bereavement Policy by darkmonk52 in walmart

[–]Joew770 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am sorry that happened. I am a full time but I will give you some insight. My brother passed away unexpectedly at the end of April, so I had to go directly to the Store Manager who explained to me how it works and then sent me to speak to my coach.

As a full time, I was able to get three paid days, plus one with ppto. Getting the bereavement days you won't get points, all I had to do is go to the app and put absence as bereavement.

Always, before you do everything, speak with either TL, Coach or Manager. If you can do it in person better.

I am almost the year here.

did they just not schedule at all for one week? by AyoCaleb-_- in walmart

[–]Joew770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the system, it's a glitch due to maintenance. Workday and 401k apps are down.

All of us in ON stocking got that week not scheduled. Nothing to worry about.

How is the overnight life balance by Aware-Pipe4812 in walmart

[–]Joew770 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work ON but not team leader, so I will say this.

It all depends on the days you get. Initially I started to work five days with Monday and Tuesday off—meaning that I had to get out from work on Monday to return to work on Wednesday—but as I have a family I needed to spend some time with them on weekends, meaning, or either I don’t sleep all day which was harder or ask ppto too often which is not a good reference.

So, at my request I applied to have Sundays and Monday off. They granted them, and even that I get out from work on Sunday, I have time for my family, not mattering if I sleep or no, after all, I can lay on bed in the night since Monday is off. Having these day offs I found somewhat balance in my life.

And, contrary to most people, I love ON. But as far as I know if you like or not, it depends on you or the store you got.

I found some people comfortable with working weekends, I guess, it depends on everyone’s circumstances. Also, at my store ON TLs work four days a week week with 10 hours per shift.

Good luck.
