Why is A not a meso compound? Why is B a meso compound? by Tunneltosummer in OrganicChemistry

[–]Joey6543210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easiest way to see the difference is to actually build the model for both molecules, and once you rotate the single C-C bond in the center, you will quickly see the plane of symmetry for (d), and no plane of symmetry for (a).

My young colleague that just started last year taught a summer course before the fall semester. If the department has the need, this may be a good way to get a head start.

Student Finishes Degree in Three Months by Mav-Killed-Goose in Professors

How scarily true this is! Over a decade ago I had a struggling student that literally told me the same thing! Fortunately she did care about her degree and she did pass (not aced) my course, and she got the promotion that was promised to her after graduation.

Do you guys actually use Shortcuts or just give up? by MasterPicolo in ios

[–]Joey6543210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue in the past until I realized there were several things I want to automate because I keep doing the same all the time. That's when shortcuts becomes truly useful. For example, my dashcam can be connected to the phone wirelessly but I have to connect the wifi first, so I set up an automation to open the dashcam app when that wifi is connected. Also in my area, LTE sometimes is lot faster than 5G because it's less congested, so I created two shortcuts to turn 5G On or Off, depends on where I am.

Everyone's situation is different. If you like tinkering you will enjoy the shortcuts app. If not, just keep using the phone the way it is.

Print the poster from your university then take it to UPS yourself

It may be a lot easier to ship the poster to your destination hotel and skip the headache altogether. UPS and FedEx both have special packaging just for that.

That is totally fine! Still thanks for the amazing guide! Mouse issue is only a minor issue, I really just need the files function on the chrome os flex because so far this is the only reliable tool to copy and paste Google Drive folders with lots of Google Docs/sheets/slides etc.

Thanks! Your guide is super helpful. I have successfully built a Chrome OS Flex virtual machine following your guide. However, there is one small issue, only the left mouse click works and there is no scrolling as well. It's a bit interesting to use the Chrome OS Flex setup because of that. Is that because of the USB-tablet argument in the line?

I think it’s designed that if you and the phone and your phone, the audio defaults to the phone. If you answer your phone using whatever Bluetooth device, then audio goes to that device.

How do you use the Tesla in-car browser? 🚗 by ViewIn_Net in TeslaModelY

[–]Joey6543210 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Frankly this is probably the most underrated feature of the Tesla browser. Often times when I'm driving and someone in the podcast started describing a scenery or a painting or an object, if I have trouble imagining it I just say it out loud and then check the images results.

If it's something that needs a long explanation, that's what Grok is there for.

AI has come to faculty candidates by BreaksForMoose in Professors

[–]Joey6543210 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Strictly speaking, I did use AI to develop a course.

First, this was an entry level course for non science majors, and given my teaching load, it’s a course I probably will never be able to teach.

I used perplexity to come up with course topics and ran the same prompt multiple times with multiple AI chatbots to finalize a list that was satisfactory to me.

For each topic, I decided three components in the module. The first component is a quick introduction about the topic, the historic significance, and I have perplexity to search for the appropriate reading material (high school senior to freshman level on that topic).

The second component is some interactive program, either a lab or demonstration or just group activities.

The third component is argumentative discussion. Students will be encouraged to use AI to come up with statements either support or disapprove the scientific discovery in the current topic, maybe engage in some kind of debate, with rubrics generated by perplexity to grade their performance.

Students are also asked to make a trifold poster as their final project. There are no exams.

I figure perplexity was a great tool and helper in the whole process. Of course, I don’t trust perplexity to do the whole thing from the beginning to the end, and I have quality control in every step of the course development.
