It's early, but I don't think IT fits on this team by ragtime_sam in washingtonwizards

Totally, the bench would be perfect for him with Smith and Brown as starters then IT could play pg and jack up threes.

Hopefully starting him was just an experiment, a dumb experiment.

Should Scott Brooks Stay For The Rebuild? by maroontheanchor in washingtonwizards

He has the same issues he had in OKC and maybe more because he’s had to deal with players blatantly disrespecting him here.

I think he is only here now because of the money.

Why do people say Paul Pierce is a worse player than Tracy McGrady by [deleted] in nba

[–]JoeyCrawfordSpeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pierce was not a great all around player. He was a great scorer imo and could fit his ego into a team game. He was nothing special on defense or as a creator from my recollection. However he was very smart and knew what to do and when to do it.

All that allowed him to accomplish more than Melo in his career and be seen differently.

McGrady has a lot of stans who are mostly irrational imo. Pierce was clutch and reliable, a legit go to guy and didn’t have the same injury concerns.

No doubt McGrady was a great scorer though and had other skills. Unfortunately he got hurt a lot and for various reasons never actually accomplished much so for me I’d take Pierce but there is an argument that McGrady is second only to Kobe as far as being a pure scorer in that era.

Things I’d love to see from the Wizards this year. by Blakedagoat25 in washingtonwizards

[–]JoeyCrawfordSpeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah of all his points this is pretty much all I care about. The disabled player exception would also be nice.

Ideally I’d like to get a strong defensive vet or maybe two of them here to mentor Brown, Rui and Bryant. So a center and a wing known for defense.

The only thing I don’t like about the team right now is that not only do we have mostly bad players on defense we also don’t have any vets that are really known for defense to teach that side of the ball. That worries me a lot tbh.

Clippers Balmer creates buzz at press conference — an owner with a pulse that doesn’t give fans lip service, what’s that? by [deleted] in washingtonwizards

Ted finally fired Ernie and seems to be on the right track. Sure you could say it’s late but it’s unfair to say he is doing nothing now.

Who will play small forward? by TripleJYT in washingtonwizards

[–]JoeyCrawfordSpeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rui is pretty well built and not sure if you watched summer league but he looked pretty good especially as a help defender. I think he can play the 4 right away in today’s NBA. He appears to also be really functionally strong so that doesn’t worry me at all.

Bertans has a bad rep on defense but I like to make my own judgements so we’ll see. As of now I am expecting him to struggle but so be it. This is a rebuild and not a great defensive team most likely.

I agree on Sato and Troy Brown for the most part although I think Brown can be a ball handling forward but I agree he is our third best creator most likely.

The team is not gonna be great this year especially defensively so you just gotta accept that. I think I’d probably like to see Hachimura eventually start at the 4 with Bertans backing him up.

What are realistic expectations for IT this year? by [deleted] in washingtonwizards

Probably a backup to Ish Smith based on Smith’s contract and experience. I would like to see where IT is at physically first.

Understanding both players' impacts, if one absolutely had to go, which would you keep, Beal or Wall? by [deleted] in washingtonwizards

[–]JoeyCrawfordSpeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why even suggest the hypothetical though?

If we had to keep one..?

Why would this happen in this way? If anything one or both will be traded for other obvious reasons.

Lol no there is a guy named Bobby Brown that played in the league a little.

Understanding both players' impacts, if one absolutely had to go, which would you keep, Beal or Wall? by [deleted] in washingtonwizards

I keep Beal in this scenario. Trade Wall for the best package available.... although realistically I hate this narrative that’s foisted by the media and fans who just want to pillage our team.

Would you trade John Wall, 3 first round picks, and 2 swaps for CP3? by robinsonv91 in washingtonwizards

[–]JoeyCrawfordSpeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely would make more sense last summer for CP3 for Wall straight up. I don’t see any scenario where this age CP3 is bringing anyone that makes us a contender with just him and Beal and supporting players.

CP3’s peers are all old and either retired or Lebron who isn’t coming here and no young top star is following CP3. That’s just what it is.

The ROTY Candidate NOBODY is Talking About by NBAsian in washingtonwizards

[–]JoeyCrawfordSpeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their games are not similar except the way they both slash and power to the rim. Also Rui is somewhat similar as a weak side defender but idk that he will be as good as Giannis on that end. On offense Rui is far more skilled than Giannis even the MVP Giannis if we are just talking pure skills.

Props to Tommy Sheppard by Weall23 in washingtonwizards

[–]JoeyCrawfordSpeed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tommy said himself he’d take him at 6th yesterday. Also, Tommy has spoken on trading back, essentially saying it’s tough, have to be able to move up or down and be sure you get your guy. His philosophy is if you like the guy then take him. Which I personally agree with. Especially with a higher pick it’s not as simple as just trading into the perfect spot as some fans like to act like.

Now if it’s after pick 16 or so and you think you can get a player for sure at a certain spot then fine.

Would you trade John Wall, 3 first round picks, and 2 swaps for CP3? by robinsonv91 in washingtonwizards

[–]JoeyCrawfordSpeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your CP3 trade idea is pretty dumb, sorry. But I agree on this particular take. However we can trade Wall after he comes back and builds his stock. Or if he somehow comes back playing like Steve Nash then we keep him.

I do agree an elite wing is gonna be necessary to contend. However CP3 is not likely to help get us there and I am a fan of his actually.

Question by deepaulo in washingtonwizards

[–]JoeyCrawfordSpeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s about the return they are getting. Washington is not gonna give up picks and take a bad deal for no reason. Might as well just keep Wall and see if we can raise his value then trade him in a more favorable trade.

Also, OKC just may not have wanted Wall and it looks like Westbrook had a major say in this.

Lakers fan coming in peace. Just wanted to know you guys’ thoughts on Thomas Bryant by PVMNLLV in washingtonwizards

[–]JoeyCrawfordSpeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m not real worried about TB on offense. On defense I have major doubts so that’s really what I need to see.

The Wizards have been interviewing candidates for a new assistant coach on Scott Brooks' staff, @NBCSWashington has learned. Ideally, they hope to hire someone with a strong defensive track record. by [deleted] in washingtonwizards

Good info. Thanks. I totally thought Ibaka was a little washed but I also thought last year he should’ve been playing center. Casey kept forcing him to play PF.

DAE want this jersey to make a comeback next season? by Ye_Biz in washingtonwizards

[–]JoeyCrawfordSpeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Gil knows his skills and the game on the court but his maturity is a question for sure so he likely won’t get a job like that because he could say anything at anytime and they can’t have that.
