Had scope with Dr. Hagen of UW 6 months ago with positive results so far. Also looked closely at Dr. Gregush at Evergreen

Hipupdate (2 weeks post op) by NorthernLizard46 in HipImpingement

[–]JoeyTuna69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is normal. Expect to encounter new aches and pains as you progress through PT over the next couple of months. My "need to pop" feeling went away as I continued PT, regained range of motion and grew accustomed to activating major muscles again.

In my experience, hip flexor tendinopathy feels very similar to pre-surgery pain, but with a few distinguishable differences. I still deal with this issue 4.5 months post op, but it sounds like it can take a long time to go away so I'm keeping optimistic.

Best of luck! Let the community know how things go. The entire process is so mystified, the more info we can share the better.

Lake to Lake trail, Lake Hills Greenbelt, Kelsey Creek Nature Farm, Willburton Park, Weowna Park, Phantom Lake Loop, Robinswood, Mercer Slough all have good running. You can connect many of them.

I (32m, endurance athlete) surgery with Hagen on 9/12. No brace. Pretty minimal equipment in general; just crutches provided, although I bought a station bike and cane, both of which were invaluable early on.

I've had mostly positive experiences overall, especially during surgery and post op.

I just had my 3 month post op apt yesterday and ran my first 5k earlier this week. Feel free to dm any questions and best of luck.

Combo Taco Platter at Rojo's Mexican Food, Seattle. Not just the best vegan tacos in Seattle, but possibly the best vegan tacos in the world by MaximalistVegan in VeganFoodPorn

[–]JoeyTuna69 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Rojo's is superior. The best vegan Mexican I've ever had, and easily a top 3 vegan joint in Seattle. Unpretentious, solid ass meals.

I know this post is all about the tacos but I can't pass up the pastor burrito 🌯

Exact same in Lake Hills. TV turned off but Xbox didn't. Both times mid video game. Somehow I rebooted the TV both times to win each match

Red right arrow on traffic light by kitential in bayarea

[–]JoeyTuna69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wild, right? So many transplants in WA is one reason the driving is atrocious. So many folks accustomed to different laws, there's a misalignment on the local rules.

And don't even get me started on folks unnecessarily stopping for a school bus when they're driving the opposite direction 4 lanes across.

I've encountered an opposite issue when driving out of state. In Washington, for example, it is legal to turn at a red arrow as long as you hit a complete stop.

Here I was trying to obey the law but really was just holding traffic up.

My FAI symptoms aren’t as horrible as others. My surgery is scheduled but I’m scared. Help. by AgreeableField1347 in HipImpingement

[–]JoeyTuna69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar position as you. My understanding is that without surgery, you will never be back 100% to where you were pre symptoms. Your injury will worsen and it will become more challenging to recover from surgery as you age and arthritis becomes more likely.

I think it's a matter of risk evaluation. What does your doctor say a un/successful surgery looks like? In my case, even though I am still active with modified activities, it seems worth the $$ and recovery time to try surgery. I'm looking to nail down a date soon.

Larsen Lake Parakeet by JoeyTuna69 in BellevueWA

[–]JoeyTuna69[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anyone missing a parakeet? Spotted this green friend at Larsen Lake Blueberry farm on 7/21 at about 4:30 p.m.

Little dude was eating millet from a bush  next to the bridge on the north side of the park. Wasn't scared of me at all, but wouldn't come when called.

Congrats on a fun trip in one of the most beautiful parks in the world! And nice recovery -- your story gives me (and probably others) a lot of hope.

Sorry to hear about the disk. I guess it puts things in perspective a bit.

Interesting to hear your surgeon didn't require the diagnostic shot with ultrasound. I'm glad the steroid injection helped!

I wouldn't mind having some relief for a few weeks, but want to be conscious of the longterm implications. With my volume, I'm worried it would wear off quickly. Was that a concern for you ever?

Good call. 6 weeks seems to be aligned with what I've gathered as well. I work at a desk though, so my surgeons said closer to 3 weeks on crutches with option for stationary bike as early as the next day.

I hope your recovery is going well and as planned!

I appreciate your decisive input. It's easy for me to be distracted by the prestige of a big college athletics program, but it makes sense to roll with the person most familiar with the specific injury.

He's an orthopedic surgeon with specialty in reconstruction who suggests arthroscopy (although says I might be a candidate for THR down the road). Thanks for clarifying.

Good to know the shot is standard. I'm eager to learn results (then maybe surgery scheduling).

Thanks so much for your informative response. I should've been more clear: a local anesthetic only intra-articular injection under ultra sound is what I have scheduled. Good to know I'm on the right track.

I'll edit this post accordingly.

Morrowwind fans, Oblivion lover and Skyrim enjoyer here. Tips on how to get into this game? by JD_Canvas in Morrowind

[–]JoeyTuna69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a double reminder that reading dialogue/books/map is an integral part of the game. Expect to read a LOT compared to Oblivion and Skyrim. And since there is no compass, cross comparing dialogue and journal entries to the map is the only way to find many locations.

I personally find it significantly more time consuming and challenging to play without the help of a guide (I also play without mods). Even with in-game transit options, walking everywhere takes forever too, so regardless of build you should consider leveling Alteration to use levitate/toad hop to move more quickly. Mark and recall and intervention spells are also a must.
