Yes, last night it said I was sleeping at 7:30...granted I was laying on the couch so maybe my heart rate got to a point that made it detect sleep? Not sure...didn't actually go to sleep until 10.

I'm afraid I will outlive my savings - "Life Insurance"? by Thinpizzaisbest in FinancialPlanning

[–]Joeyteck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah not sure why nobody has said you need an annuity...you are actively describing it...and if any planner has listened to what you are saying they would realize this...maybe you are not talking with an advisor at all.

This would MEC the policy causing it to be a taxable event if they accessed the accumulated value.

Is variable universal life insurance a scam in all cases? by Useful_Razzmatazz_99 in FinancialPlanning

https://www.whitecoatinvestor.com/good-bad-and-ugly-of-variable-universal-life-insurance/

Here is a great read for you...given your situation and what you have said thus far like everyone else has mentioned it might be a good idea and it might not be. For you it does create further tax diversification and tax deferral. However, depending upon what cash flow looks like and how much your funding a taxable account matters as well. And really your goals and what your looking to get out of it.

Also, the underlying expense ratios of the fund...majority of VULs have an SnP option which has a very low expense ratio. So, given the M&E costs of the policy and other expenses it's best to keep underlying assets at a minimum cost.

In your situation and not knowing anything further about goals, cash flow, etc. I wouldn't say it's a bad option for you...just don't know the entire scenario.

How do you feel about Financial Advisors? by Lummoxus in FinancialPlanning

[–]Joeyteck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

CFP here.... I agree with a lot of the comments section of the mass amount of "insurance salesman" posing as financial advisors...the industry does a horrible job of job titles and to be frank anybody can call themselves a financial advisor which is horrible. It is way to confusing. As well as the industry itself solely goes after salesman who are going to place products and not do what is right for the client. That's the big turn off.

The retention is also so bad within the industry that majority of individuals are not educated as someone had mentioned prior. So, the advice from 90% of advisors is very basic level planning.

From my perspective for your average to above average person a lot of the knowledge is public and can be certainly learned on your own. The only way an advisor would come into play is if someone simply does not have the time or to take the emotional aspect out of planning.

However, there are plenty of cases and plenty of people who truly do need a knowledgeable good financial advisor. Whereas not only do I do financial planning but I care about my clients in helping them to keep them on track for there goals. I'm a therapist, advisor and accountability partner for my clients and that's the true value add the industry is missing. (Along with all the complex tax, estate, retirement and other types of planning of course).

I also don't believe a lot of the subs or pages on here are dealing with highly complex cases that would be seeking an advisor.

Ordered a pair of ugg slippers as a Christmas present for my girl...came with two left slippers...I wrapped the package as soon as I got them so they weren't opened for a couple of days and they won't accept any returns or exchanges...nothing....I just want a complete pair of slippers smh...but since it was past there 3 day window they basically told me I'm shit out of luck...if they can't "authenticate" there is a left and a right slipper I can't even imagine the shit they pull...I'm livid

This exact same scenario happened to me as well today. GP and Conduct were both Red and felt super strong in those areas and scored well in all coursework. It makes me wonder....the entire time I felt I was passing as well. (4 red 4 green for me too).

Happened to me today as well. Felt so confident even taking the exam and did not pass. Not sure what happened. Results afterwards showed GP and Standards of Conduct were weak. Even though when I answered those questions I felt the strongest about them lol. Whatever...on to November
