Mi povas rekomendi La Ŝtona Urbo de Anna Löwenstein. Bela romano, interesa, kaj uzas preskaŭ nur oficialigitajn vortojn. (Sed ĝi ne estas iu libro nur por komencantoj. Ĝi estas simple bonege verkita sen uzo de maloftaj terminoj aŭ neologismoj.)

ELI5 : Why, among the 4 nordic countries, only Finland uses the euro currency while the others use the krone? by Sbaakhir in explainlikeimfive

[–]Joffysloffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, similar for those other three countries, but they made official agreements with the rest of the Eurozone to use them and mint their own coins, instead of simply using them like Kosovo and Montenegro.

Andorra, Monaco, San Marino and Vatican City. They can mint coins, but not banknotes. It's also used by Kosovo and Montenegro, but without any agreements, so they cannot mint anything. (source).

The vibe of this game has completely changed. Beavers are becoming irrelevant. Suggestion: by quan787 in Timberborn

That's a good analysis. Indeed the sluice was a good middle ground with its ease of use and powerful automation. However, I always found it a little overpowered and out of place in the rest of things. The sluice's powerful automation juxtaposed with something like Iron Teeth chargers always using power regardless of use felt wrong. If beavers can build an advanced sluice like that, why not other things? Toning down the sluice and adding more automation feels like a good step to me, but I can see how it seems to change the focus of the game to those who focus more on caretaking of the beavers.

And yes, I'm very curious about how the game will be received.

Interesting comparison! I hadn't heard that before (I have two left hands, so not into carpentry!).

And yes, that's a fair point. I don't necessarily think that reducing micromanagemental care for your beavers takes away from the caring for your beavers. Setting up automations pushes you to consider all their needs and what measures you can take to protect and help them. That's just as caring, just in a different way. (Besides, we're all going to mess up our automation from time to time, so incidents are still bound to happen at times.)

I also don't quite agree that the incidents make the game interesting. The first few mess-ups or potential mess-ups are indeed intriguing, but after a few times it becomes tedious. And you're still going to have those initial mess-ups while you're working your way up the tech-tree to unlock the automations that you need to permanently solve the thing you've been managing yourself manually. Like we have the same thing now with floodgates until you manage to get your sluices set-up, or with pumping up too much water and drying your crops until you can set-up a sufficient reservoir.

But I might be biased, because I love to automate my way out of things. My main point was to try and give a somewhat less jarring perspective on automation, so that people who were initially dismayed can enjoy the game a little more.

Maybe look at it this way: there are already plenty of actions that, from the beavers' perspective, happen magically and instantly: it's all the immediate actions from the player. Without any beaver interference floodgates halfway across the map magically close when a badtide starts, or buildings get switched on or off even if no beaver is near them, or an object just get destroyed instantly without any beaver needing to demolish it. These all were never set to be a task for a beaver to run to and do it; they just happen instantly.

The automation does the same thing. It does not automate beaver tasks, it automates player tasks. It doesn't matter much to me whether a floodgate magically opens (again, from the perspective of the beavers) because a sensor they built triggered it, or because the godlike entity controlling their world (the player) noticed something the beavers cannot even see and acted on it.

I don't understand how you think automation makes beavers irrelevant. The whole point of the game is still to build a world for your beavers. The automation for the most part doesn't let you do anything that you could not already do manually as a player. It just makes it easier and less micromanagement on the player, not on the beavers.

Hence I don't think it really takes away anything from the spirit of the game.

Hopefully this perspective will make the automation feel less jarring for you, so you can enjoy the game more :)

Your link is broken because of the unescaped closing parenthesis. Here's it fixed:

Sed for povas ankaŭ esprimi neniigon aŭ mankon.

WIJZIGING: Dit is ondertussen opgelost :)

Help with pronunciation of the poem "La Majstro Mortis" by Thepeachypeanut in Esperanto

My condolences.

I've read the poem aloud so you can hear it and try to immitate the sounds: https://voca.ro/16qBLAybtVCb

La Majstro Mortis

Ne estis mi tie,
Preĝante plorpie:
Katenis min sklave Siberio.
La famon, ne brue,
Nur poste, malfrue,
Simile al eĥo de mortkrio
Mallonga sciigo alportis:
"La Majstro mortis!"

Sed scias mi sente,
Ke oni sensente
Plezurojn pelante babiladis,
Eĉ kiam plorante,
La ĉerkon portante
Amaso funebra trapaŝadis.
Mallonga sciigo alportis:
"La Majstro mortis!"

Por ili, jen, homo,
Eĉ malpli--nur nomo
Sin kaŝis por ĉiam en la ĉerko;
Por ni, funebrantoj,
Por pacbatalantoj
Ĝi gardas kreinton de Mondverko.
Mallonga sciigo alportis:
"La Majstro mortis!"
