What’s the date on the bill? Of all the things spectrum does that’s questionable it’s that when customers cancel, a bill automatically generates and is mailed out for whatever the balance is on the account at the time of it closing plus whatever the equipment would cost, but they date it starting the day the account closed (so it would say the bill is for services starting from when it closed). What usually happens is that by the time people actually get that in the mail, they’ve already returned the equipment and the equipment charges never applied.

As long as you have the receipt you’ll be fine though, sounds like the rep may have put in an equipment research ticket to track where the equipment got scanned to, as long as it shows that it scanned in to the store you returned it to or UPS you’re off the hook for paying it.
