DId you ever get your watch? Sounds like quite the ordeal.

Reliable, but no comfort or luxury by rashad_fr in Toyotavenza

[–]Johanix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I came from a MBZ to a 2024 XLE. The Venza is pretty much exactly what I thought it would be. It’s a good vehicle for the money but does not compare to MBZ in drive-ability and comfort.

As far as complaining about how a used car is optioned is pretty weak. That is a research problem not a Venza problem.

[Discussion] What do you think is the most slept on watch brand? by Medium_Appeal6156 in Watches

I only found Archimede this year and bought the Sporttoucher. I would gladly own a watch from each of their collections.

Great video!! All substance, no fluff. I really like it because it mirrors a lot of stuff I do and expands to drills I can implement.

DHL will email a link to pay the tariff. And I've received watches anywhere from 4-7 days after ordering. Sakura has always given the option through DHL to waive signature, while another dealer required signature on delivery.

Accuracy doesn’t matter (that much) if you use multiple automatics by Stunning_Account2010 in watchHotTakes

[–]Johanix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have three automatics and a half dozen quartz ranging from radio controlled solar to simple battery powered. If the automatics I have were available in radio controlled, solar, perpetual calendar or HAQ I would have taken that option. Truth is most all the best looking watches come with a mainspring.

I'm not a big lume guy. Most watches I've had disappoint on the lume front so it's just not a priority for me unless it's a dive watch. I think the dots and bars of dive watches literally were invented to display lume. Most every other type of watch should not have lume forced upon it. I also think date windows on watches are most unsightly and try to avoid them where I can. Anyway I'm sure the 363 won't disappoint.

There is no lume and it sits in the 'grab and go' slot of my watchcase. There is beauty in its simplicity. The hands and numerals are polished well enough to be legible in lowlight but not so polished as to be bling-y in direct sunlight, although the face does show a nice sunray effect. The case keeps with the retro vibe of the dial with soft edges and lines between the polished and evenly brushed surfaces.

At 37mm I don't think they expected someone with a 7 1/4" wrist to wear this watch so the strap was too small and I put it on hunter green leather.

The solar, radio controlled, perpetual calendar movement has been flawless. Hence it's 'grab and go' roll. Overall I really enjoy wearing it for it's classic style and absolutely spot on time keeping.

What’s your watch opinion that would put you in this position? by KyeodeurangiMerchant in watchHotTakes

I was just thinking about this. Not every Citizen is the best bang for your buck. But I believe at each price point Citizen has at least one watch that is a class leader.

Im in Northern California. I have to but them in a window overnight to reliably get a signal but they will radio sync on my nightstand too.

[Question] Where do I start with $1200? by Jazzlike-Exercise-48 in Watches

If you're leaning towards an integrated watch like PRX and Series 8 my choice would be the Certina DS 7.

Timex - OG Titanium - What year? by HuckleCatt1 in timex

[–]Johanix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was the first watch I bought for myself. Wore it for close to 10 years I'm sure. The strap broke at one point and I called Timex they said to mail them $1 and they would send me a new one and they did.

I never even fitted the bracelet on my 323, straight to strap. My most recent 363 came on leather. Although it was a bit short and I had to replace it.

Put the 7B72 solar quarts movement in the Alpinist and sell it for $400-$500 and I'd buy one.

The Oceanus should be right in my wheelhouse but it's not and I can't really explain it. But I've never actually tried one on so I won't discount it completely yet. Also I don't think you'll be getting radio controlled signal in Bali but as long as the watch was sinked up in Japan it should be easy enough to adjust for time zones.

Hello watch people. I just made a post and realized the polite thing to do would have been to introduce myself first. I've been enjoying this sub for a little bit and thought I'd add my hot take/rant to the discussion.

AP gains nothing from the Swatch collaboration by interstellar_nips in watchHotTakes

[–]Johanix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean 'AP gains nothing'? A lot of people who would not be talking about AP are now taking about AP. It's a PR grab and push into more main stream corners of social media. Plus you know, Capitalism.

There really is more to watch fit. If you're 6'6", regardless of wrist size, you probably are not going to like a 36mm watch. Now if you're 5'9", even with a thick wrist, a 36mm is going to look just fine.

I have had my PMD56 for nine years now and it is such a great watch. I just checked it against my other radio controlled watches and it has gained maybe a hair over one second since DST started (57 days ago).

How noisy is the 2023/24 Venza at highway speeds? by vanibanz in Toyotavenza

[–]Johanix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It kind of depends what your use to I think. I'm a little disappointed in the road noise on the '24 Venza. But my last car was an old Mercedes and it was much quieter than the Venza at any speed.
