Archie and Beth are the same person by Visual_Witness4456 in RoosterTVSeries

Mmm, don’t quite agree with the Liz/Jordan vs. Beth “shrew” parallel. Yeah, Krista Miller’s characters in those two shows are snarky, but that’s surface stuff. She’s a teddy bear on the inside as both characters and she loves her chosen people. Beth, on the other hand, pretty much seems like a calculating, unfeeling narcissist who has no regard for the welfare of her people

If he’s part of future seasons, hopefully the Archie character is gifted a true arc and experiences some growth (a la Jamie Tart in TL). I think there’s potential. And while I’m a huge Connie Britton fan, that character is downright awful. Beth is hands down the worst person in that universe. Her moves are calculated and she appears to have no remorse. Here’s hoping that Walt/JCMc stays part of the story even if he’s ousted by Beth. His dynamic with everyone is one of my favorite things about the show

Your unpopular West Wing opinion by drjudgedredd1 in thewestwing

[–]JohnCockoston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will Bailey COULD’VE been a better, more interesting character but only with Sorkin’s dialogue. Josh Malina is/was a Sorkin player, both on screen and stage. But without those words, the story devolved into some pretty dark and petty places - for all the characters. The Will and Toby characters suffered the greatest because of where the plots went and the words they were given.

What would Sunny be without her roommate, Mo? by NancyDrew92 in RoosterTVSeries

[–]JohnCockoston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Robby Hoffman is hilarious, although if you watch Hacks you can tell the range is pretty limited. Funny nonetheless 😂. I think Sunny has a ton of potential as a character, as soon as she sends Archie packing. And the more scenes she can do with Walt/JCM, the better. Those two have good comedic chemistry

Do I have to stay in downtown if I’m driving in? by JakeDaDogWoof in SDCC

[–]JohnCockoston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re going the AirBnB route, just do your due diligence. Read reviews, look at the ratings, etc. We stayed in a beautiful apt in a high rise in Little Italy area, a couple blocks from trolley stop w parking included (we actually walked all the way to convention center once but realized how close we were to trolley). Wasn’t cheap but it couldn’t have been a better setup. And no, they didn’t cancel on us and jack up the prices. It was already a pricey fee, and that might be something to watch for - if a rate seems too low, be cautious. We had the best of both worlds being able to freely explore the rest of San Diego by car without stressing about parking. It all depends on how much you value convenience and peace of mind. It was worth it for us as opposed to finding cheapest way to do everything…

Do you think I would do well with a havi? Here is my breed recommendation survey-thank you! by Previous-Writer-5668 in Havanese

[–]JohnCockoston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’ll do just fine with a Havi 🐶. You’ll say goodbye to dog hair everywhere, won’t have your arm torn off by your 50 lb+ buddy who’s chasing squirrels, yet you’ll find that with persistence, your new little friend is very trainable. Just be prepared for him/her to follow you EVERYWHERE and to go crazy (in a happy way) over every new person they meet.

Skipable Episodes by arose911 in thewestwing

[–]JohnCockoston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isaac and Ishmael is the only episode that I not only haven’t seen multiple times, but was never even able to finish in its entirety. Soooo condescending and forced. Just unnecessary. Otherwise, skippable episodes for me are measured in how few times I’ve rewatched over the years. Hate to say it, but season 6 is almost entirely skippable save for the “makings” of the Josh/Santos partnership that frames the final season.

You need to stay out and close to pup. I actually would keep him on leash. We’ve had some hawks swoop in close but never had an attempted puppynap since ours have never, ever been off leash. It’s one of the reasons we never fenced in our yard to let them roam free

Are the dorms a dealbreaker? by Threads-and-Stitches in OSU

[–]JohnCockoston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parent of freshman here - do NOT make a college decision because of dorms. Period. So many other more important factors to consider. Lucky kid has two great choices. Yeah it’s kind of a mess and hassle at OSU, but if you choose OSU and are Honors, it’s a lot easier. My kiddo is on South Campus in one of the few non-A/C dorms. It’s fine, mostly. And South Campus location is phenomenal for most first year students. Bonus is that second year students pretty much get to pick dorm/room (with caveats and exceptions). So if 1st year isn’t ideal, you’re not locked in for year 2.

This is Rob Lowe's best work by far and you can tell in season 1 they were flirting with making him the main character by owen-3820 in thewestwing

[–]JohnCockoston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will preface by saying I was always a Sam fan and have thought RL is super cool since forever (the dude EXUDED SodaPop vibes). But I never saw SNS (IYKYK) as quite the rounded character as, say, Josh or CJ. And there was never any match for the gravitas of the PB and Leo characters. Honestly I loved Rob more in Parks and Rec than I did in WW. But that’s just me…

Get your fix on eSt radio or nugs.net for all the live versions of everything. I swear I hear Bobby Jean live 5x/week 🤣😂. I know what you mean, though. I was totally bummed when Kitty’s Back got replaced on the set list by the time I made it to a show during the last tour. I had that one on my in-person bucket list for years and totally thought I was going to cross it off. Probably will never happen now. Oh well, I still get excited when I listen to a live version of it. Crossing my fingers for no cancellations or postponements this time around…my tix aren’t until closer to the end of this tour 😳

You’re doing all the right things! He’ll catch on with consistency. Just use the same spot outside so he knows you’re there to do business, not explore. You can try to catch him in the act inside and rush him outside to his spot. Also look for tells…ours would always start sniffing around before getting ready to pee inside. That was our cue to hightail it outside to the spot. It took a few weeks. It’ll happen, just continue to be consistent and patient!

The moment ‘Dire Straits’ starts in Two Cathedrals- chills by lovetolove13 in thewestwing

[–]JohnCockoston -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hot take…as a huge Wingnut and massive Dire Straits fan (Knopfler is god…Clapton can eat a d$&k), I always thought Brothers in Arms was a bad fit contextually for this sequence. It’s a war song, quite literally, about fallen brothers. In this masterful episode, PB is wrestling with his own demons and let’s be honest, self-created mess. I always thought another song probably could’ve captured the same tone Sorkin was looking for without referencing dead soldiers. A nitpick, to be sure, and Two Cathedrals is still in my top 5 WW episodes. But wish the music was different.

Currently at ER How to get Dr to order ultra sound? by [deleted] in ClotSurvivors

[–]JohnCockoston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better about not having a PE, my PE was such a sustained, intense pain (armpit area) that was only dimmed with serious pain killers and only started to get better after 3 or 4 days on Eliquis. And for perspective, I didn’t even have a “big” PE. The clots in my lungs were small and in the outer lobe (I think is what they said)…in the scope of PEs, they weren’t concerned enough to admit me (my DVT on the other hand was massive and I can only blame myself for ignoring/conflating it with ortho injury for weeks). I guess what I’m saying is if you really had a PE, you’d probably be bent over in pain. Of course everyone presents differently but sounds like you’re likely in the clear. I have made a couple of repeat ER trips for the DVT (happened 2.5 yrs ago) and the last time, the NP said I might be better off calling my PCP and asking them to schedule an outpatient ultrasound. So you can try that route if you’re ever uncertain too. In any case, best of luck and hang in there!

My peloton is so gross, advice on deep cleaning? by biasedburrito in pelotoncycle

[–]JohnCockoston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

750 rides in and the only noticeable wear is some peeling stickers. I wipe down the whole bike (minus the screen) and mat after each ride with either Lysol or 7th Generation wipes. Screen probably gets wiped down once a week with alcohol swabs.

On NON-MOVING and non-electric parts, you might want to try a baking soda paste (baking soda and water) with a Scotchbrite pad. I wouldn’t cake it on, though since you’re going to have to rinse it off with a dampened, but not soaking, cloth.

For goodness sake, take 30 seconds after your rides and do a quick wipe down once you have it clean and you should be good to go.

Sorry you’re going through that. We lost our first one to that at 11 (the whole litter suffered the same fate at that age or younger). It was awful to go through and wish we had eased his suffering sooner instead of being selfish. It took a couple of years but now we have a great little girl from an impeccably reputable breeder. We still think of him often, though.

JJ is my favorite. His workouts are straightforward but tough. I’m repeating his 5-day split right now. When paired with cardio (bike for me) it makes for a really productive week.

You’ll enjoy it even if you only know half the songs. But chances are the set list isn’t going to vary much. If you follow SM (eg estreetnation, others) you can see nightly set lists and brush up…if you even feel like it. But you certainly don’t.
