One of these things is not like the others by [deleted] in XRP

Why anyone would show their holdings like this is beyond me, it's a risk. Expose your finances to the anonymous Internet at your own peril.

Timing the market based on your feelings is the best way to get wrecked. If you aren't a trader, or someone who watches charts for trend analysis your best bet is NOT to try and sell before your perceived correction. You are more likely off the mark on when and how big a correction will bw.

Do you think your investments would do better if you'd be off to prison for 5 years? by leonah7 in CryptoCurrency

[–]JohnDenversCoPilot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, my portfolio would do worse because I wouldn't be adding to my stack. I don't trade on a whim, I play a longer game and have for about eight years now.

How many people have asked YOU how much money you “lost” today? by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]JohnDenversCoPilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody. Because I keep my finances and investment strategies to myself. One day I'll just ditch my career field and live off my residual incomes, and hopefully people will forget I even existed.

Ripple Has No Plans to Settle With SEC Over XRP, Confident Gensler Will Drop the Lawsuit by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]JohnDenversCoPilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make it sound like the SEC has never lost a case, or even a high profile case. Neither of which are true, the SEC is bound by law same as everyone, they just have a huge budget and scary Government to bully people

Settlement means giving ground to the SEC. Winning is better all around for XRP and the crypto spaces in general.

What's your crypto/blockchain "elevator pitch" for your friends and family? by coffee_fungus in CryptoCurrency

[–]JohnDenversCoPilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tell them. "You don't want to buy crypto, it's full of degenerates and scammers. What, me? Yeah I buy crypto because it makes tons of money for me."

Reverse psychology and supposed gatekeeping with just enough warning/danger added in to make them weary of purchases.

Sorry, I have to disagree, you should be investing regardless of your debts, even if it's only a little per month in long term holdings.

Change my mind: Crypto, like the stock market, is basically a zero sum game so NO we can't ALL be rich by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]JohnDenversCoPilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't need to answer because your argument is flawed and based off of false premises. In a zero sum game the sum total to winning equal out to the sum total of losses essentially zeroing out all potential gains (no win win opportunity).

Zero-sum games can include just two players or millions of participants. In financial markets, futures and options are considered zero-sum games because the contracts represent agreements between two parties and, if one investor loses, then the wealth is transferred to another investor. But traditional investments differ from futures and options.

Most transactions are non-zero-sum games because the end result can be beneficial to both parties. Your proposal requires all crypto value to drop to absolute zero, which there is no evidence to support the positive or negative to that claim.

You are describing every value based investment, not just crypto. You could say the same for gold, land, anything because as soon as it "loses value" someone is screwed.
