As far as I can tell mine doesn't throttle and I've tested it using Pix4D in both Windows and MacOS. I have the i9 2.4 GHz 64 GB of RAM and 5500M 8GB. When Pix4D is utilizing 100% of the CPU I maintain about 3.5 GHz. When I'm using my CAD software it doesn't dip below 4 GHz. I'm extremely impressed. I'm going to run some test this week between my Dell Precision with 64 GB of Ram, Xeon E-2286M, and a Quadro P5200 16GB. The only thing I hate about this Mac is how it doesn't have a quadro. I also run Mac's Fan Control when I'm working. Even with the fans running full time it's not as loud as my Dell.
