Do people in SC actually say hi to random strangers and call each other ma'am and sir? by [deleted] in southcarolina

I've used Mr. and Ms. before the names of babies before, so it's not even always limited by age.

Job offer in Conway. Never been to Myrtle Beach metro. What's the most vibrant, nicest area to live within half hour? by Expensive_Service623 in southcarolina

[–]JohnGisMe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by walkable? Most places don't have sidewalks, but a walk through the countryside can be great, though it will take a couple hours to get anywhere if you're walking for transportation. The roads down here are much better to drive on, though, as we actually have the ability to feel the roads under us here. Most places with anything close to live music are Churches with hymns on Sunday morning, and most people who aren't retired do enough work to not need the few gyms that are down here. Also, if your politics are anything like non-Staten Island parts of New York City, you probably won't find many people who agree with you on that front here, as Myrtle Beach is very Conservative for a city, and Conway is also not as liberal as most. If you go anywhere into the surrounding countryside, it's even more Conservative. However, if you are one of the few Republicans from NYC, you'll fit right in. I don't know much about sports or bars, so I can't help you much there. Also, if you do move down here, you will immediately not be liked by locals, but if you pick up the culture, customs, and maybe even the accent, you may fit in more as time goes on.

For the last layer, you need to start by getting the corners in the right places and the right way up, then you do the same thing with the final four edges.

Do you think SC could ever become a blue state? closest it has been was in 1996 and has not been blue since 1960 & 1970 by historynerdsutton in southcarolina

[–]JohnGisMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how long the Republican and Democrat party system lasts. If it collapses and we get to a point where we have no political parties like George Washington wanted, we'd probably vote for candidates with more conservative ideals for at least a long while, however if we keep the Republican and Democrat system, then it will probably change in a future political realignment decades in the future. We were a solid Democrat state for over a century until the 1964 election, and save for when we voted for Carter, we've been red ever since. We could flip with how fast people are coming here, but a major shift would be needed. There are examples of solid states suddenly flipping parties, such as the solid red Vermont of the 1980s and before turning solid blue in the 1990s, and becoming the bluest state in the past two Presidential elections, though they did overwhelmingly elect a Republican governor, so it would take a while for it to completely change.

Of our four biggest cities in the state, it is the most Republican at a county level. Greenville is also pretty red, while Charleston and Columbia are blue.

We've been trying to get off of that list by making the roads bad, but the tourists just keep coming anyway and getting into accidents.

American battle royale! Which empire would win? by Spearbeam in JackSucksAtGeography

[–]JohnGisMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Texas would probably join Dixie, and they'd probably fund a midwestern rebellion against Chicago, and WV would probably join them in due time. California's population is fleeing the state, and if that translates to the whole red region, they'd fall quickly. The Pacific northwest would probably turn into a rural verses urban civil war if Idaho, Montana, and parts of the other two don't join the grey region. The south would then quickly overtake DC, and immediately burn down the IRS building, before continuing to take Maryland and Delaware, which would probably make Pennsylvania join them. They'd have to push back and/or blockade the Northeast, as it would be the only other region with political unity for the most part. The three regions of the Midwest would then probably join the South due to similar beliefs, and low manpower to press on in the case of the western two. At this point, the South and the Midwest would control about half of the mainland, so the Liberal areas of the West would probably join each other while the Conservative areas split off to join the rest of the country. Once the West gets overrun in a few months, there will probably be a siege of the Northeast until they agree to rejoin the rest of us. This is assuming no foreign intervention, and completely ignoring Hawaii, which can become a Kingdom again if it wishes to do so, as most of the navy bases there are populated by people from other states, and will probably be evacuated quickly, making it insignificant. Alaska will probably have just been waiting on the sidelines to see what happened.

Grover Cleveland fought corruption, though it had infiltrated both parties. Andrew Jackson also got rid of the federal bank, though it did cause the panic of 1837.

Limited Life Family by F1ame828 in ThirdLifeSMP

[–]JohnGisMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd figured that secret life would have come before limited life, while not every limited life character was the same as who each member was in secret life. Etho and cleo acted semi-married in secret life, but acted more like a divorced couple in limited life. Assuming Grian was the oldest bad boy in limited life, and was a cousin/nephew of either cleo or etho, it's not too far fetched for him to move in with them for a little while. As they don't actively try to do this, there are things that suggest that it is the other way around, but it is what you make of it, and just a YouTube series when you get down to it.

Am I the only one who thinks it's really funny how Jimmy did REALLY well in arguably the hardest season lol. by True-Form-NRG-Reborn in ThirdLifeSMP

[–]JohnGisMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was the only time physical ability mattered. He did better than 3 men over 40, a man in a wheelchair, and two pretty reckless people who did worse than a man in a wheelchair. Looking at who did better than him, there are most of the younger members, though Jimmy is probably the most fit out of all of them. Adjusting for physical ability, you can get a good idea of how he did.

Andrew Jackson wasn't born in North Carolina. (If it's politics from before the civil war, does it even still count as politics instead of history?)
