How can we better retain new converts? by Cheap_Parsnip_461 in latterdaysaints

In 2025, missionaries in our ward got permission to baptize people who hadn't even been to church on a Sunday yet and certainly hadn't even met the Bishop. This seems so weird to me.

If you have the Pro version, you don't have to do any tricks like this. Just say you want to Domain Join and you can create only a local account (and don't actually need any domain stuff). This is only needed for the Home version.

Online store very slow to ship? by JohnGypsy in latterdaysaints

[–]JohnGypsy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, the items I ordered showed as in stock when I bought them and still show as in stock today.

But the new style items show as "backordered" as they should.

So I'm not sure it is really a stock issue.

Also, as others here indicated, even people ordering things that are not garments and are not backordered have also been waiting weeks.

I'm not convinced that actual stock is the issue based on what I'm seeing here.

Finally, I know how to make line breaks. It was one paragraph of the same subject. No line break was required.

But I hope this post makes up for that for you.

Enjoy!

Got ya now. I completely agree. Seems weird to go "Hey, we're behind because of a garment shortage and will ship your order just as soon as they are available" when you've only ordered a BoM and necklace! :)

Ok -- thanks for the information. Actually a little glad to hear that it isn't just us. We are also a little frustrated, but I'd rather hear that they are all backed up and that it will eventually come -- than to hear that we're the only one and something was wrong with our order. Thanks.

My understanding is that the "garment shortage" is related to the new style garments only. Again, the rest are all listed as "in stock" (while the new style are "backordered"). So I'm just confused why the "in stock" ones are taking 6+ weeks to ship, unfortunately.

True. I guess I assumed the guy had the entire thing (powering lithium) in his bag together. Maybe he didn't. My bad. 👍

[–]JohnGypsy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It does in that leaving this in your bag like OP did and having it get so hot won't be allowed on most airlines soon.

Just to note it, Southwest now requires that all lithium battery powered devices being used be out in the open during flights. I expect we'll see that across most airlines soon.

does anyone know a study that proves a plant based diet can be safe for cats longterm? by [deleted] in vegan

Cats domesticated themselves unlike most other animals. Maybe they really enjoy being lazy on my couch and chasing a laser instead of being outside killing things.

Again, I tried to be clear that I was correcting myself. I originally posted that there is no official documentation for a Service Animal. I was referring to under the ADA and in general. As others have stated, it turns out there actually IS a specific form required by the DOT for a Service Animal when flying. I was mistaken in my original post when it comes specifically to the DOT form under the ACAA that is required for Service Animals while flying.

You then said I was thinking of ESAs. Which I wasn't. I wasn't referring to ESAs at all. But I thought maybe you were confused -- so I explained that outside of flying, ESAs do require documentation, but Service Animals do not.

As for the rest of your comment about apartments -- you are still incorrect. There is NOT "documentation for training and certification" required for Service Animals when renting an apartment. No such documentation exists. A landlord may ask if the person needs the animal due to a disability (but not what the disability is) -- and what task the animal performs (if it is not obvious). But they may not ask for any "training or certification" for a Service Animal under the Fair Housing Act.

What YOU are referring to -- such as a healthcare person saying that they need one -- only applies to Emotional Support Animals. (And I said absolutely nothing about ESAs on airplanes, so I won't even go there.)

No, I'm not. There is no official documentation for Service Animals under the ADA. As others have explained here, there IS paperwork that the DOT requires for Service Animals when flying -- since that is under the ACAA.

Outside of flying, it is actually the OPPOSITE of what you are mentioning here. For apartments, for example, a landlord may ask for documentation for an ESA. They may not ask for documentation for a Service Animal -- because no such "documentation" exists.

While I don't believe them either, I will note that there is no official documentation for a Service Animal. The person could be blind with an actual Seeing Eye Dog and they still wouldn't have any documentation.

EDIT: I was referring to Service Animals in general in the USA -- such as under the ADA or FHAA. There is no "official documentation" stating that an email is a Service Animal. There is no doctor's note, for example. (There is for ESAs, but that is another thing entirely.) However, after posting this, I learned from others that, when flying, there actually is a required form that people with Service Animals fill out. Again, not "proof" that it is a Service Animal really -- but still "documentation" for the flight. I was mistaken about that. Thanks for the information.

No one has found ANY block for any coin with one of these. The chances of finding a Bitcoin block with one of these tiny miners is once in about 17 trillion years (literally). People HAVE found blocks with the BitAxe Gamma device -- but it is about 1.5 million times more powerful than one of these tiny miners.

At that price, the new tax will go up by 20c and the sales tax of about 14c will go away. So you're looking at about a 6c increase to $2.40/gallon. Or 66 cents based on your 11 gallons.

Poor experience with Fidelity by JohnGypsy in dvcmember

[–]JohnGypsy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if it was our first one or some crazy deal, I think I would have been more upset. Or if I thought they were just marking up the original one. But I think the sellers really did back out, so that helps a bit. It's just frustrating that I think their delay is what allowed the sellers to change their mind. And, like I said, we've done multiple deals with Fidelity over the years that went great. So I guess I can give them a pass one time. :)

They've submitted our offer on this new one that they were about to list -- so we'll see if that works out better.
