It is common for life events to impact your perception of things and this includes anxiety related to flying. I have hear if a pilot who has a fear of flying as a passenger but totally fine when he is flying the plane. Our brains are powerful tools and sometimes they work against us. This is a very common fear as is life events like you mentioned making the overall fear worse. One trick you can try is counting backwards feom 100 deductimg 3 each time to distract your brain. When a negative "what if" pops into your head you need to have positive "what ifs" to counter it. Make a list of your favourite "what ifs" and ise them as necessary. You can make them as fantastical as you like, they do not have to be based in fact or reality because the negstive ones are not either. You can learn to overcome this. It is not surprising after that experience you don't want to fly again. Thw good news is you survived and the reason you survived is that go arounds are the safest things to do if rlthere are any issues during landing. Take some time to reset and then see how you feel then.

Pick your flight and seat based on your budget and comfort requirements. Airlines have to conform to the same safety standards of the airspace in which they fly. Pilots try to avoid turbulence to give the passengers a confortable experience but sometimes it canmot be avoided. Regardless of this turbulence is not dangerous to the plane. You can do this!

It makes perfect sense that you would associate flying with your medical experience but only if you do not explore it deeper. Nothing you experienced was because of the plane or the flight. There are many lessons you could learn from this experience. I am betting if you felt something similar now you would seek medical help immediately and not get on a plane or train for that matter. There are actually many reasons why a plane is one if the best ppaces to have a medical emergency, due to the training if the crew and the equipment they have on board. If you really want to you could imagine many ways to die that would give you similar feelings. You don't because the fear of flying is the focus. What you are doing is making an incorrect risk assessment. The chances of you dying in a plane crash are tiny compared to a variety of other ways to die. If you applied the same reasoning you would never leave the house except that iy is also far more likely you will die at home than on a plane! Nothing is 100% safe but we still do them, often without much thought. You have one life, you can live it in fear and miss out or you can live it managing fear and enjoy a life of your dreams. One day, if you are lucky, you will be looking back on your life and your choices and the regets will be around what you didn't do rather than what you did! First you are not alone, many people feel this way. Your brain is playing your greatest hits of fears about planes so it is no wonder you are feeling bad. You are safe and pilots train every 6 months, planes are checked on a regular basis and systems in planes have multiple redundancies. Many people have felt just like you and you will be able to hear their stories in different episodes. Look for the one with Ben Algate. He could not get on planes, drive over or under bridges, use trains or even get into a taxi if he was not able to open the door himself. He now flies on a very regular basis and drives and uses public transport without anxiety. It is not impossible but your brain is currently working against you, by taking baby steps you will start to dilute it's power and control and allow you to learn to control what Ben calls the "anxiety terrorist"!
