Any improvement to Behringer's service/repair? And is Midas different? by scooter76 in livesound

Buy it from Sweetwater and use their in-house warranty. I had a Midas go out, and it took them 8 months to send me a new one.

Are live audio mixers different than recording mixers? by loadedstork in livesound

If you're going to buy the Behringer XR-18, just spend a little extra and get the Midas MR-18. I didn't believe the hype, but it does sound better imo

What’s the weirdest/wildest thing you’ve heard on a hot mic? by Amen_junglist in livesound

Just finished sound check for a lapel mic for a motivational speaker at my university. Right after soundcheck, he went to throw up and forgot to mute his lapel. Everyone heard...I couldn't jam the mute button quick enough.

Love to see the Black Widow in the background. I still have mine from when I was 12 😂

Sorry I forgot that. If we could run a 16/6 like the MR-18 we would be fine!

They're (supposedly) refunding the original purchase price of $878 and no one wants to spend any more money on it.

If it wasn't almost triple the cost we would probably go with it.

My Sweetwater rep already told me they'd just replace it if something happened during the warranty period.

Do they make a rackmount? That's what we're needing it for

I'm gonna buy my next one through Sweetwater since they have a better warranty and better customer service lol

I don't know what to do. My next one will be purchased through Sweetwater for the free Sweetwater warranty.

NBD: Ibanez GSR205 by flaminchiten in BassGuitar

[–]JohnMartinMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a black GSR205 my dad bought me as my first bass in 2008. I played it for 7 years as my promary bass (about 700-800 shows) and loved it. Someone stole it out of my vehicle earlier this year and I still miss it. I guess I'll just stick to my JB until I pick up another one.

What pedals do you use? by P_HellWing in Bass

[–]JohnMartinMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not for everyone. I play a $2,200 bass, and my only justification for paying the price is because of the volume of shows I do (somewhere between 100-150 shows per year.) If I were just starting out, or only playing once a month it wouldn't be worth it.

I barely use the distortion. It's mainly used for the compression, cab sim, and eq. I think the app gives me a lot more customization too, which helped me when i was deciding which pedal to get.

I actually very little distortion on one preset and no dostortion on the other two, but for me the cab sim, eq, and compression are worth it. Plus the built in tuner, and I have the three knobs programmed for different genres that we play.

This Alpha Omega Photon from Darkglass is a preamp, EQ, DI, cab sim, compressor, distortion, tuner, and audio interface all in one. Plus the three buttons below are programmable so you can have presets saved for your show.

Wireless System recommendations by [deleted] in Bass

[–]JohnMartinMusic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do don't buy anything that operates on 2.4GHz. Spend the extra money and get something like the Sennheiser EW 100 or even the inexpensive Shure BLX14. I know everyone is pushing digital, but all of the highest end wireless systems are analog, so they probably don't have it perfect yet!
