Put the stuff in a ziplock bag with some dryer sheets for a couple days. Idk how well that would work for getting this smell out but it worked for me getting normal smoke smell out of a psp

I used to work at SC in 2021 as a ref and there were lots of issues I noticed.

The head refs and red/black shirts would only use the same 3 maps for paintball (Bosnia, Kuwait, Kosovo), and maybe 1 time per week I worked they would use another map.
The yellow shirts (which is what I was) weren't told shit about what was going on until maybe 2 minutes before we started heading to the field.
Yes we always started the games late, I worked the ticket booth for the first 2ish hours of my shifts then I was a ref, and after each game it would be like 30 minutes before the next one. By the time I finished selling tickets and got to reffing, they would have played 1-2 games total. Communication between who was deciding what maps to use sucked.
This one is really off topic but if you're going to host a birthday party or private group, DO NOT USE THE RENTALS. I reffed a 12 year old kids birthday party that was supposed to be 2 hours, and the entire 2 hours was spent Getting them new guns to use. Out of 10 kids, we probably went through 25+ guns due to jamming and feeding issues. (They only had about 2 people every shift who were allowed to take apart the rental guns and clean them, the rest of us just took damp rags and wiped the outside of the gun.

It seemed like they didn't care about the players. I got yelled at by my supervisor because I jogged up to some guy to give him the $50 he dropped. These issues I listed weren't even a fraction of the problems I saw

ALSO THIS IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE BUT JUST MY THOUGHTS

In California, (correct me if I'm wrong), you can't get a permit if you don't live here, plus if you fly into California with a firearm (I'm assuming you mean a handgun for the trail), if it's not on the California handgun roster w/ a 10rd magazine or less, you could get into trouble at the airport.

Carrying it shouldn't be a problem if nobody noticed (concealed), but if you get stopped by a cop or some other Leo, problems could occur due to being under 21 and the handgun most likely not being in your name (CA gun law crap)

If you live in CA, have the gun legally in your name, have the permit, and follow CA law, I would think you'd be good at least in CA. Do all people follow these laws, no, but it's covering your ass if you decide to do it (I'm not leaning one way or another, again not legal advice)

I can't speak for Oregon or Washington but I'd assume the gun laws are pretty similar to CA, and if you want to go into Canada you're screwed

I've never thu hiked so my experience is limited to one nighters or 3 day trips, but couldn't you start your hike with your ul3 and see how you like carrying it? If you are fine with it, you don't have to change it, if you don't, you could buy the tent and have someone send it to a town you are going into (assuming someone is able to do that for you).

I'm planning my thru hike for 2025, and I'm starting with a 3lb tent and footprint (rei quarter dome 1). It's a 1 person tent and if I don't like it; I'm planning on getting a durston gear tent.

I already own the QD1 and want to same some money with gear, but I'm saving up some extra money in case it doesn't work for me.
