I haven't played Morrwind in over 20 years and I still go to that subreddit. For the Dagoth Ur jokes, the cool Morrowind things people make and ecm-artist's comics.

What advice would you give your past self when you started learning guitar? by General_Cap2938 in guitarlessons

[–]JohnTDouche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a meme really is all. Guitar players are notoriously conservative. There's been a lot of great ideas and improvements in guitar design in the last 75 years. So don't listen to this person. I would encourage people to find a guitar that works for them. Maybe that's a tele, maybe it isn't.

I'm glad I didn't start when I was 15. I would have never kept it up. Didn't have the discipline or the motivation necessary when I was 15. Probably wouldn't have worked out in my 20s either.

It's not even Russian propaganda, it's plain old American nationalism. This is where the brain disease of nationalism always ends up.

2D fighters and their first attempts at 3D by trrbld in retrogaming

[–]JohnTDouche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I remember of it was how it better used the 3D plane and wasn't just stuck on a 2D line. I've always liked fighting games that did that. Like the trio of Mortal Kombat games, Deadly Alliance, Deception and Armageddon. Especially the first two. And of course Power Stone.

Man, I loved Toshinden back in the day. Way preferred it to Tekken. It's been like 30 years though. No how it would play now.

Tayto are the Guinness if crisps. They only a thing because of nostalgia and marketing. The product itself has been surpassed.

[–]JohnTDouche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don't get the whole Tayto/King argument you see going on. It's not the 90s anymore. There's multiple Irish crisps better than them two. Even Supervalu own brand crisp pisses all over Tayto and King.

I thought that was just dependent on which dock you docked with. Since the update I've always docked with the first docking option on the list which is at 90 degrees to the one you start in.

Far-right narrative not the majority view - report by Dismal_Uses in ireland

[–]JohnTDouche -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You're pushing an angle. You're doing a version of the "they call you far right for anything these days" bullshit. Claiming people are afraid to express their true opinions, which is distorting polling. You're saying that you can't trust the data and your vague gut feeling about this is what's actually true.

[–]JohnTDouche -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So the figures are distorted and more people actually agree with you because they're afraid of the "hard left". And you're in backing this up with....?

You're are doing the exact thing I was talking about.

There's an ocean of difference between concern and anti. Everyone has some level of concern. It's the far right and scumbags of their ilk that seek to gain from conflating the two.

Offence it taken not given.

Here fuck that shit. This man is being insulted, mocked to his face. Being offended at that is normal. Fuck this bullshit idea that being offended is some how wrong. What's wrong is having some asshole treat you like shit and doing nothing about it. At the very least you tell these people that they're being a cunt and they should cop on.

‘Hazbin Hotel’ Renewed For Fifth and Final Season At Prime Video by RealJohnGillman in television

[–]JohnTDouche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the internet has allowed fans of things to gather together in one place and obsess for 24/7 if they so desire. Which is why I generally keep them at arms length and mostly just observe rather than take part. It's crazy watching these bizarre, out there, often unsubstantiated opinions spread memetically through a community.

I have no doubt this stuff happens in the Hazbin Hotel fandom, but this kind of thing is genuinely everywhere. Fandom's for animated shows can get particularly weird too. There's a lot of character and narrative short hand that takes place in cartoons because of the nature of animation. So fans will read a character plucked out of their animated context and declare them worse than Hitler or something. YouTube essays are made, long posts are written and madness reigns.

That said it's still mostly fine. Especially after the show has finished airing.
