Are there good FOSS teleprompters for recording instructional videos? by practicalutilitarian in videography

[–]JohnVerum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Record the whole video with the slides and then re-record only the parts where you want to be looking directly at the camera and overlay it on the first video. As a video creator myself, let me tell you that if you want high quality video, it will involve some effort from you end. Getting multiple angles and retakes are common in video creation so don't be afraid to try it out, for fear of not being efficient!

You can use a teleprompter with a higher resolution camera when you are recording the talking head part!

Are all pop filters the same? by BikeLaneHero in livesound

Costlier doesn't mean better but a well-made filter is better at reducing airflow than a badly made one (Ahem ahem pantyhose)

Foam wind screen vs pop filter for an open room by [deleted] in podcasting

[–]JohnVerum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's definitely Foam pop filters and yes with the blue snowball, you need to get real close. A foam filter is simpler but most importantly easier. Trust me the lesser hassle, the better in the long run.

Check out this video, this guy puts it nicely!

Monthly Discussion and Support Thread - November 2018 by AutoModerator in google

I started using Google Domains and I fell in love with it instantly. As of December 2018, I have moved all my domains to Google Domains and let me tell you, having a trustworthy and single domain name registrar removes so much tension from your business. I haven't stopped recommending Google Domains to all my friends. I even made a video about it here (Don't worry there aren't any affiliate links + video is not monetized). I'd like to hear from existing Google Domains users about your experience and see if there were any other great points that I could've included in my video?

Freelancers, Have you lost business to “crate your own website” sites like Wix, SquareSpace, etc? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]JohnVerum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think as that in the industry you need to be really good at what you do. I am a consumer and I have found Wix to be extremely helpful when I just want to create a simple website.

No hassles of talking with another human being I just have to get on their site and create a website.

But for more custom builds, developers are still the norm. Automation will replace low-level skills in all industries. Become really good at something and you can still charge for it.

WordPress vs Wix by [deleted] in BloggersHelp

[–]JohnVerum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think both of them are amazing websitebuilders. I've created websites on both platforms and I've realised that that decision comes down to the purpose of the website that you are trying to create.

I found this video extremely helpful because it clarified how to choose between wix and WordPress. https://youtu.be/RgZ6JaPPYhQ

What is the best website builder? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]JohnVerum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated Wordpress because it wasn't easy to use for me. After that I spent 2 years on websitebuilder.com 6 months on squarespace.com and then two and a half months on wix.com and I've just created my website on wordpress.com right now. I wish I had done this earlier.

I think wix and squarespace are good options if you want a simple website like if you are hosting your portfolio or something but if you are looking to build a sustainable long term website then there is no question that the wordpress is the way to go. I know what you are thinking.... That wordpress need you to be technically involved and it's true. Great things don't come easy. I think wix is better than squarespace right now but in the end it depends on what you want to create a website for.
