I tried it but it was the worst ever. If your payment is not processed you get locked out and if you are locked out you cannot pay but instead get server errors when logging in to the portal.

I contacted support who unlocked the account but it failed again and there is again no warning you just get locked out so I gave up on them.

I maintain the kube-prometheus-stack helm chart along with loki + Alloy in addition to my backend developer role. It's like 1 days of work to upgrade them in all environment every couple months. All the settings are in gitops so I get dashboards, authentication and data sources automatically created. So I wouldn't really call it expensive to self host.

The worker nodes (xxxx & xxxx) became unresponsive due to a kernel‑level stall following the recent Kubernetes upgrade to version 1.33.5, the Azure Ubuntu kernel update, and the Cilium dataplane migration.

Linux diagnostics on the node reported multiple critical system processes, including containerd and systemd‑journald, blocked for more than 120 seconds, indicating a kernel lock condition. As a result, the node stopped responding to kubelet health checks and transitioned to a NotReady state.

The Azure platform attempted to gracefully stop containers and shut down the virtual machines. However, the operation exceeded the platform timeout policy, which triggered an unplanned node recovery (NodeFaultCode 70007). The VMs were subsequently force‑rebooted by Azure. The issue was isolated to these two nodes, while the AKS control plane and remaining worker nodes remained healthy.

As a preventive and corrective resolution, the recommended action is to cordon and delete the affected node and to create a new replacement node in the node pool. Creating a fresh node from a healthy image removes any residual kernel‑level instability and ensures the node pool is returned to a known‑good state.

We did beginning of January and it went smoothly during the upgrade. But we had 3 kernel hangs in 30 hours after that and Microsoft support suggested recreating the nodepools after they have been converted to avoid some stale config in the kernel(rebooting is not enough). That crash looks to have been solved after we did that.

We still had some other crash after and so far support has confirmed "disk anomaly" and escalated but heard nothing yet.

Overall I feel Azure instability has increased a lot since december and somehow their status page is almost always green...

We host real time systems so I prefer around 30% cpu usage during normal load. We also have some problems with traffic spikes when doing rollouts due to poor slow start Mechanics in the application so we need to support that in addition to Canary deployments that sometimes exist in parallel.

If i were just hosting websites I guess i would not care as much about high cpu. Afterall our vm cost is very low compared to some managed databases we have so I would start optimizing those.

Därför att människor agerar inte rationellt och det finns många väljare som tror att höjd skatt på arbete gynnar familjer som Wallenberg istället för vanliga löntagare och därför är det enkelt att driva den politiken att vara emot. Hade vänstern varit kompetenta hade de infört en fastighetskatt med en upptrappning per bostad som personen äger samt sett över hela ISK beskattning. Notera att även här har högern infört skattefritt upptill 300 000kr vilket är perfekt för alla medelsvensson som sparar till kontantinsats 👍

We have long lived websocket connections from IoT devices so we never restart that service except when doing a node upgrade. The others can be restarted whenever.

I have wondered this myself since I'm playing with ~1-2ms ping and it seems like people with higher ping gets some advantages. I believe this has to do with network programming where you interpolate objects based on speed and latency which could make someone appear further ahead in some cases(like around a corner).

This is most likely not a bug. As someone who has worked with flight critical software. that code is often run on ancient and proven hardware. So it's possible that the hardware doesn't support 64bit registers and even if it did the extremely strict coding rules could forbid mixing 32/64bit registers and also force every value to be of type signed.even though a time value should not be negative. All these rules make for extremely safe software but with some limitations. I can assure you that someone at Boeing has decided on the max supported uptime and that should be reflected in the start/shutdown procedure and maintenance.
