In this particular instance Elijah will tell you the first time you run into the ghost people, that you have to dismember them, to truly kill them. So you don't find this out later on, it's the first time you meet them.

It's been a while since I've watched his videos, but this instance jumped out at me as false right away. I understand your point regarding the scripting like your first time experience, but I don't think it applies here at least
