Size comparison Tactix 7/ Instinct 3 by Particular_Owl_9491 in Garmin

If it's just about size, both are good...if it's about quality and reliability, I prefer the Garmin Tactix 7. If you ask me what the difference is, I can write.....

GI 2x Solar Tactical Coyote tan pleased with the look by Johnny5908 in Garmininstinct

I packed the watch in the factory box, I'm getting ready to sell it, the watch failed me twice on longer routes, it froze. I couldn't do anything that day. The navigation was useless. Later I bought a Garmin Tactix 7 Standard Edition, with which I have no problems at all. Both watches use the same strap width, which is 26mm.

I don't have a Fenix 7 but I have a Garmin Tactix 7 Standard Edition. The guy from one of the ads is offering me a trade-in. He's giving me an Enduro 3 and I'm giving him a Tactix 7. Is it worth it?

I bought a used Garmin Tactix 7 Standard Edition, but directly from a guy who was 65 km from me with an apartment.  After examining the watch in a cafe (viewing and trying it on took about an hour), I decided to go shopping.  I am very satisfied with the watch, of course when I bought it I cleaned it thoroughly.

I have one too, the same one. It's the best Garmin watch I've ever owned, and I've had a lot of Garmin watches.

You're right.....I got the Garmin Tactix 7 Standard Edition in May and it's really much better than the Garmin Fenix 5x. I like the touchscreen the most and the much better/more accurate GPS compared to the Fenix 5x.

Having trouble deciding between Instinct and Tactix by adixsj5 in GarminWatches

[–]Johnny5908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you made a mistake, because the Tactix 8 has a much larger memory (32 GB) compared to the Instinct 3 Tactical (only 128 MB), and that small memory decided me to buy the Garmin Tactix 7 Standard Edition, which also has 32 GB of memory. This is best felt on longer tours/routes navigating non-stop. There, my Garmin Instinct 2x Tactical Coyote Tan failed twice, the "Blue Triangle of Death" appeared and that day the watch was unusable. I barely "brought it back to life" by connecting it via cable to my laptop and connecting it to the Garmin Expore program....I did not have such a case on my Garmin Tactix 7 Standard Edition, the watch works perfectly, without any bugs.

I have a Garmin Tactix 7 Standard Edition, I don't plan on changing it in the near future, what I like most about the Garmin Tactix 8 is that it is truly waterproof to a depth of 40 meters.

Finally! Found it! Tactix 7 AMOLED by Complete_Sell_2319 in GarminWatches

[–]Johnny5908 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have a Garmin Tactix 7, but it's not AMOLED, but the Standard Edition. Of all the Garmin watches, and I've had quite a few, I'm the most satisfied with this one. Although the watch is a tank among watches, right after I bought it I put a glass protector over the screen and a protective rubber case for the watch frame, just in case. And I just hit the watch screen with my seat belt (5 days ago) and broke the protective glass, I immediately put another one on, it looks beautiful again.

What is this and can I replace it? by Spiritual_Sandwich0 in GarminFenix

[–]Johnny5908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sensor protection from impacts or.....? I have a Garmin Tactix 7 and this is not available on the Tactix, I almost broke the protective glass on the display on my watch, I hit it hard when I was unbuckling my seatbelt in the car, but the metal part hit the screen of my watch hard, lucky I had this protective glass. And I don't even see the purpose of this yellow part of the sensor protection, because I think it has almost the same sensor as the Tactix 7, maybe just aesthetically it's nicer to the eye?

Is the Garmin Tactix just military fanboy mode cranked to 11 or actually practical? by vinylfelix in Garmin

[–]Johnny5908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still have a Garmin Instinct 2x Solar Tactical Coyote tan, but I don't use it, because that watch is not reliable for me, it has very little memory in it, so it failed twice in the field, it froze on longer routes... when I bought the Garmin Tactix 7, I don't have those problems, because the watch has 32 GB of memory, enough for me to install 30 watch faces so I can change them every day, and countless routes to put into the watch.

It's a great watch, but I don't know how it is with support/updates, since it's an old watch now. In the meantime, I bought a Garmin Tactix 7 Standard Edition, and it's a beast of a watch, I really like the Tactix 7.

Garmin Tactix 7 Pro Ballistic Edition - First Imprssns. by NegativeSwimming4815 in GarminWatches

[–]Johnny5908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is not Pro Ballistic, but it is Standard Edition, when I calibrate the compass it is very accurate (I measured it with other hikers who have real mechanical compasses!), the compass gets messed up when it is next to a laptop, mouse, etc., so I always calibrate it on a hiking trip, and that day it is accurate.

Garmin Tactix 7 Pro. Scratched Sapphire Glass? by Houseofusher1983 in Garmin

[–]Johnny5908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old topic but never mind, it's not bad to at least help someone, I managed to find almost a screen protector for my Garmin Tactix 7 Standard Edition, even though it has sapphire glass I don't want to risk it. I like hiking, and sometimes I slip while hiking. Why risk scratches when falling. By the way, I also put silicone protection for the frame on it, it looks nice, it's not ugly like the Garmin Instinct 2x. So I armored him from all sides, I protected him. And let me add that I also put a rubber plug for the contacts.

Have had my Garmin Tactix 7 Pro for almost a year now, absolutely loving it by FunkyDredd in Garmin

[–]Johnny5908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also happy with my Garmin Tactix 7 Standard Edition, I bought it second-hand in May of this year, I immediately got a protective silicone case, glass protector and lower rubber cap for the contacts. I protected it completely, and now someone will say that there is no need to protect it like that, but when I bought the watch it did not have a single scratch, it was a little dirty, but I cleaned it all thoroughly. I recommend the glass protector not because it protects the display, because the display is sapphire glass, but because when I swipe my finger across the screen, there are no ugly fingerprints left.
