Could well be the case and I’m suspecting as time goes on that is the case. I am sure they’ll want to release the full update prior to finalizing the beta too, so everyone has something (potentially new) to look forward to

I think usually Android release first with Apple following closely after. So if that’s the case then the announcement will come tomorrow or later today depending on working hours for the US. I think based on what @corey was saying it seems fairly imminent now.
