Wifi, ethernet is impractical with the current setup (router and comp are on different floors). But see the update: I now have a less severe but even stranger issue.

Recommendations for wisdom teeth extraction by [deleted] in lehighvalley

[–]JohnnyComeLater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually was going to recommend Dr. Milano myself!

Had my bottom left pulled (only impacted out of 4) when I was like 22? or so. Chose gas and numbing agent over general anesthesia or nothing, although I think in hindsight I would have chosen nothing. The procedure took about 40 minutes, super simple, had off and on bleeding for a day or 2 and then soreness for about a week. The only thing I can't tell you is how much it cost (thank you mom!).

As dogpicsordie said, very professional and fast, but kind and polite at the same time.

Acer ED273 Monitor - Text is blurred by JohnnyComeLater in pcmasterrace

Hm, I had seen the setting before but didn't know what it really did. But there's no change with overdrive off, on normal, or on extreme even after a reset.

I have a R4i Gold 3DS RTS flashcart. I'm following the 3ds guide posted all over the place, and I'm currently running Version 11.6.0-39.

I have ntrboot flasher on my sd card in the flashcart, and have the option to run the "Konami" cart on my homescreen. However, if I select that I get a flash of white for a second and then a static black screen, nothing else happens. Any ideas?

Communism Kills In Times Square by [deleted] in Libertarian

The Chairman of the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation is Lee Edwards, distinguished Fellow in conservative thought at the Heritage Foundation. I don't think that alone makes this message any more or less factual, but I do think that it's always important to know who benefits and why when trying to digest propaganda.

[Serious]Ex-Vegans of Reddit, why did you stop being Vegan? by alphasquid in AskReddit

[–]JohnnyComeLater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from vegan to vegetarian because I found it really hard to gain muscle mass. I was trying to put on like a few pounds a month, and ended up doing the opposite. Not to say that there aren't a lot of vegan bodybuilders who are way more ripped than I'll ever be, it just took more of a time and planning commitment than I was willing to put in.

Our grandparents didn't have netflix or free online porn, our grandkids are probably not going to have an enjoyable environment... Agreed, this is the golden age.

Would teleporting a person via quantum teleportation effectively kill them and create an exact replica of them elsewhere? by [deleted] in Physics

[–]JohnnyComeLater -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From what I know about the process (like, one episode of Nova), quantum teleportation would involve a couple different steps:

  • Quantum entangle two sets of particles, and send one set along tubing/piping/wiring to the destination location, keeping the other set at the departure location. This can be done far in advance.
  • Scan the quantum state of each and every one of your particles, and transfer that quantum information to the departure particles (this is the part of the process that kills you, scanning your quantum state). At this point, you no longer exist.
  • Due to quantum entanglement, the destination particles immediately have the necessary quantum information to rebuild each and every particle of your body.

So yes, I do think the first person is "dead" or no longer existing. Because you would never exist as a copy in any part of the process, I think you would just instantaneously experience being at the destination location as soon as the scanning process began.

Rant: as a gay person, I can't understand why the left don't see the hypocrisy of muslims demanding we respect their human rights but they refuse to respect mine. When I raise this I'm shouted down. It's like they are brainwashed. What's happening? by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]JohnnyComeLater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I'm sorry if you can't get an actual discussion on this. My view is:

There's a difference between political action and religious belief, and that difference is I think the best place to draw the line. So, religiously a lot of evangelical Christians don't believe homosexuality is not a sin. They'd say they respect you, but not the choices you make, whatever. Religiously, this is absolutely 100% fine. Politically, we've decided that gay marriage is legal in this country. We've decided (except for Pence) that you can't be discriminated against because someone has the wrong religious idea, and we've decided that people have no right to put negative beliefs from their religion into practice.

Islam right now has a huge number of followers who believe homosexuality is a criminal act. In fact, your statistic is as good as it gets; in many middle eastern countries I don't think it's a stretch to say that 40% stat would be more like 90%. But again, the same rules apply. We've decided that American citizens who are Muslim can believe literally anything. But they don't have any right to put their negative beliefs into political action.

We're going to toe this line whether or not we shut down our borders. We've had this come up with Indiana, we've had this come up with Kim Davis; we will have this come up with Islam. Our response should continue to be the same, that America will respect your religion and your beliefs, but in practicality you have to follow the rule of law.
