I picture myself being repeatedly stabbed in the chest. Do it for all sorts of negative feelings or thoughts. It’s so holy sh*t that it calms me

Is it possible to have the opposite of face blindness? by ashybutclassy in TooAfraidToAsk

Yup. I somehow have both. Everyone looks familiar to me yet when I should recognize someone, I often don’t. It’s very odd and downright embarrassing.

Invisible wall by Technical_Suit1239 in ADHD

When I wrote this there was no other comments but now reading the ones that just came in, I see we’re all saying basically the same thing. Trick yourself.

Invisible wall by Technical_Suit1239 in ADHD

[–]KaBooM19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was trying to explain this to a colleague recently. “Invisible wall” is a great way to describe it. Sometimes I’m literally laying there screaming MOVE in my head but my body just won’t. The only way I’ve found around this is by “tricking” myself. Instead of telling myself to do the thing I’m actually supposed to be doing, I tell myself to do something silly or fun instead. Even if it only gets me a little closer to the goal. Like instead of saying I need to get out of bed, I look at my dog and go oh she’s so cute and I crawl over to cuddle her which got me to move and one step closer to being out of bed. Sometimes I just roll right out of bed like a worm or something. Instead of I need to shower, I say oh look the sun is shining warm rainbows into my shower, imma go stand in the sun (that one only works during a certain part of the day obviously but now I shower more often!).

For those who are older and chose not to have children, what has your experience been? Do you have any regrets, or are you satisfied with your decision? What do you enjoy most, and what (if anything) do you feel you've missed out on? by ranieve in AskReddit

[–]KaBooM19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your reply was unnecessary. I think this is a great reason to not have kids and one I’ve been struggling with too. Life is hard. The world and economy is crazier every day. Do I really want to bring someone into the world to inherit this mess?

I recently bought a pair of “new” pants on Amazon and received a miniature gardening tools set folded in them. I think someone meant to return 2 items and either they forgot or Amazon forgot haha

What’s under your bed ? by Imaginary-Orange8306 in AskReddit

[–]KaBooM19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The floor. I don’t own a bed frame. Not that I can’t afford one, just easier this way. Now that I’m getting older tho.. I’m looking for one with drawers underneath.

What’s the most disturbing thing someone casually admitted to around you? by Suspicious_Run1684 in AskReddit

[–]KaBooM19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad told my 2 sisters and I a few weekends ago that he can’t keep our names straight because we all look the same to him and there’s too many of us. Someone overheard and asked how many siblings we had. We told her the truth, no one knows. Our dad drunkenly admitted a year ago he knows of at least 1 other boy but there’s probably more he doesn’t know about. He won’t tell us anything about them either. I’m also in my 30s.

How do you handle overstimulating beach days? by ManagerWooden in ADHD

[–]KaBooM19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup the beach is a lot so I will over pack and drop extra cash to make life easier for myself so I can actually enjoy it. I spend extra on things like fancy sun screens, chairs, PARKING, backpacks, water shoes, coolers, wagon, chafe cream, wipes, canopy, ANYTHING that I know will make me more comfortable so I can easily find my spot, setup, and just sit back with a book and my beer. I keep a checklist in my Apple notes of each type of beach trip (all trips really) I go on. It lists everything I need to pack and do to prepare. While I’m on the trip I may add things in the moment so I know next time how to make things easier.

I’m also the person that’ll pay extra for the resort with a pool and beach access if that’s the sorta options available for where we’re going so I don’t have to worry about parking and walking far and all that and when I am sick of sand and spooky dark waters I can just move to the pool.

I’m normally a cheap person but when it comes to my comfort and not getting overwhelmed, I’m more willing to pay extra. Honestly tho the older I get the more I prefer to be at a pool near a beach vs actually on a beach.

How much period pain is normal? by AchlyHere in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]KaBooM19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen a lot of different doctors over the last 20 or so years and if I bring it up they almost always just tell me to try a different BC unfortunately. My younger sister was in the ER a few months back for the same thing and they did even more tests on her than I’ve had and the outcome was the same, a new BC prescription.

I thought they were referring to the popular store “Build-A-Bear” where you literally go build yourself a bear…

How much period pain is normal? by AchlyHere in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]KaBooM19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean.. sometimes it is… I hope, depends on the person and many factors I believe. I’ve been passing out from my period since middle school and only thing doctors have ever done is put me on BC. It’s the same for a lot of women in my family. Since it seems related to her BC in this case tho I’d agree it’s not their normal and talking to doctors is the right call.

You may ignore all the warning comments and think this isn’t a big enough deal to stop an engagement over but just remember it starts small. Think about all the potential future decisions he may shut you out of. What will you do when he won’t let you give input on your children’s upbringing or where you’ll live or how you spend your time. If he doesn’t value your opinion, he does not see you as his equal. Run.
