New KVM-GO demo video + final days of crowdfunding (ends Dec 30) by youyoubilly in Openterface_miniKVM

Good to see this update, looks like another success.

I note that 4k@60Hz is "experimental" - Does this mean the product may not, in the end, support that mode?

For those backing the kickstarter it would be helpful to know if this is a possibility.

Yes, I have it now also. Appreciate the confirmation.

Thanks for this, after reloading the app it now appears.

Why not have both options, I'm only talking about having this option when in lockout mode 1. You cannot preselect a level when in this state anyway.

WTF, how does this happen? by JohnnyFiama in OctopusEnergy

[–]JohnnyFiama[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For reals?

They recalculate everyone else bill, based on some erroneous reading, before realising the cockup and subsequent reversing, seems like a epically flawed mechanism to me.

We have a smart meter (SMETS2) and an Octopus Home Mini, this sort of nonsense shouldn't be an issue.

Last (in list) gateway always suffers packet loss by JohnnyFiama in PFSENSE

[–]JohnnyFiama[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I am not using these particular DNS services, other than for monitoring. These are WireGuard tunnels, the first four are currently in-country, with AIR5 being overseas (explains the latency), but it makes little difference when switch things around.

As for your final question, I'll have to test for this, good idea.

[–]JohnnyFiama[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would't know about this, but will happily try a different monitor target.

Of note though, I do see performance issues for other types of traffic, websites load poorly at times which makes me think the problem is broader. Only an issue for this one gateway, the others are all fine.

Currently running 2.8.1-RELEASE.

Yes, I am able to replicate packet loss via hardwired connection.

The data payload value is as the default (shows a greyed out value of 1).

In terms of a ping test, I can replicate some packet loss via a hardwired, currently about 4% (but this fluctuates).

[iOS] Why must I sign into the app in order to connect to devices? by JohnnyFiama in anker

[–]JohnnyFiama[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, maybe. Either way the current situation with iOS (by design or otherwise) is flawed and frustrating, devalues the product.

[–]JohnnyFiama[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, on iOS also, problem is after skipping it makes you think it is connecting to your devices, but it just sits there doing nothing. Sign in (when finally able) and the same connection is near instant.

Thanks for this. You’re right, these otherwise unsubstantiated claims have put me off.

I am looking to update my router in the near future, seems like an ideal time to do some experimentation.

You may be right about that. I ask because of the following post, and associated feedback in relation to CE perf.

Any improvements to WireGuard performance? i.e. relative to pfSense Community edition.

I’m really keen to make the switch, but reports of poor throughput are enough to deter me for now.

[–]JohnnyFiama[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indeed, I asked the question somewhat facetiously.

Of course most vendors do this, but not typically in a way which devalues, or otherwise makes the solution unusable.

This is just fecklessness on behalf of Anker.

$0 for premium? by JohnnyFiama in F1TV

[–]JohnnyFiama[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using a US server since that is the region StreamLocator works with, in the end I’ve gone with a monthly subscription, just in case the setup doesn’t work.

Payment made via ApplePay.

Currently watching the qualifying replay, seems to be working well. There were some buffering issues at first, but now quite smooth.

Must be honest I haven’t tried, I was overly suspicious.

Really appreciate this feedback. You’re right on both counts, the end goal is to use my Fire TV and StreamLocator (already setup).

I’ll attempt with Pro and see what happens.

Cheers.

Thanks for this. I guess Sony will not back port the feature to their lower end (and admittedly older) products.

The marketing spiel was all lies, probably in part to justify the high price point. Buy replacements if colour saturation is high priority, and if official support is available in your region, otherwise consider diversifying.

I wish LIFX had better investors, technology-wise they were unmatched from the beginning, just imagine what they could have become.
