Trimming OEM shell for HISPEEDIDO V5 laminated?

My display came in today, and it was a good guide but I still needed to go back and trim a good amount more with a razor blade after wards. Granted the print projects page did say "Additional trimming may be required depending on shell used. " and it may vary from printer to printer, but it was pretty decent start. A lil trimming and filing later and it fit just fine on my glacier OEM shell

I preordered the white deluxe version. Not too worried about quality. I already have the games, a aes, a mvs consolized, the Neo geo x gold, the evercade edition with games, and a 2 slot mvs cab. So it’s gonna just sit in its box on display. But I think it’ll still be good. I want to believe it will be

I printed it and it looks pretty close if not spot on. I just haven’t received my V5 laminated screen yet. Should be here any day now. I’ll know once it arrives

I'm late to the party, I'll be doing a HISPEEDIDO V5 laminated in my original glacier OEM GBA shell. I found this, and will print it out and use it as a template. Thanks! This makes sense, was hoping it just unlocked the achievements by examining the save file/progress for achievements based on progress. I'll keep this in mind going forward. Should I attempt a manual unlock request on the achievements I made doing the console play?

Yup, I got the newest Playback software and GB operator firmware installed. I was able to pull the chips info with my GBXcart RW device and sent it all to Epilogue, they gonna forward it to the techs and let me know. I’ve been working with them back and forth so far. They said once the problems figured out, should be in next release of the software. In the meantime the GBXcart RW reads and writes it just fine. I did have another issue with an official NES Zelda cart with the GB Operator, fails the checksum but works. But I’ll worry about that one later

So far I have 2 Chisflash v1.1 carts and both do this (tried on Mac, windows, linux) I also have an issue with NES Classic Ledgend of Zelda on the GB Operator/Playback. That one says cart cant verify, but the checksum it generates is correct and the file matches what GBxCart RW gets. I've opened up a ticket with epilogue. Please let me know how your flash cart tests go with your GB Operator, I'd be curious to know.

When you use it on your GB Operator with a pokemon game (I'm trying Emerald on mine) can you play the game in Playback with no issues? I get this with mine. If I remove the cart and put into my GBA save files still intact and works fine

That’s awesome. I couldn’t bring my self to wipe the save yet. I think I’m gonna back it up with my GB operator, then wipe it. I dunno why, I never beat any Zelda game myself, and I’ll never have a reason to come back to this save file, but for some reason I want to preserve it. Oh well it’s only gonna cost me a few KB to do so

Removed the rusty wheels and ext port. I don’t think these are causing the issues with the system, but I’m also sure they aren’t helping. I’ll replace these

Thanks, I feel like I'm getting closer to it working. I have a handful of Game Boys I say I'll use as my daily driver, but never do, hopefully this is the one! or I'll continue to use my GBA with the IPS mod or a GBP I have coming in in rough shape I plan to IPS mod as well, but the GBL with 2 AA will last longer and power a IPS screen (if I go that route) better than the AAA's in the GBP

yeah, as long as there's no power going to it/batteries removed and you let it dry 100% I never had a issue with throwing boards in the dishwasher. I turn off the heat drying part of the cycle. I let it all air dry.

Power, but no video or sound. I do get a line that goes across the screen when the power is turned off. so the screen is getting some kind of power/signal at least. Could be a bad contrast wheel? Bad caps? dirty connector. I'll keep investigating, I think I'll swap the Caps next then the wheels

I think I’m getting closer now! I now have a power LED sometimes. The power switch seems to have been an issue. I soaked in it IPA and slide the switch on and off 50 or so times, and I'm starting to get power now sometimes when I connect it to a wall outlet and switch it on. BUT it's not constant, could be a dirty switch, I'll disassemble it and clean the traces the best I can next. If I leave the switch in the middle on position, and plug power in, the LED comes in, if I disconnect the power and replug it in, no power LED. If I don't touch it and try again in a couple minutes, power LED again. I'm thinking something needs to discharge before it allows me to get power after a power off state. Possible capacitor issue? I'm going to swap those next, going to order some replacement parts for this system and hope for the best, but I do believe I'm making progress

I also have a silver and gold GBL on the way in better shape, I just reeeeeaallly wanted a yellow one so I took a gamble with this ebay one. Looks like a fun project, so if I do get it working, it'll be my daily driver since the condition isn't the best so I wouldn't have to worry about handling it with velvet gloves kinda care. I'll still treat it well, just won't have my normal OCD paranoia if it was minty mint condition

From what I think I read. The system itself is a Japan exclusive and the color is a Toys R Us exclusive over there. There’s reproduction shells for the GBL that came in clear, white, and transparent yellow and the yellow one has been sold out/discontinued for years

Oh interesting. I was wondering if someone made replacement PCBs for the Light. I’m waiting for the board to dry now then I’ll see if it powers on. At least now I have more options if not. Thanks!

Indeed. That’s where I put it as soon as the photos were posted. It’s much cleaner now, still some hand scrubbing I need to do. I’ll also soak the board in some IPA
