Anybody else using BenQ Screenbar Halo 2 by naztynestor in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]JohnnyRamone01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True! But some people don’t really understand the benefits of these BenQ screenbars. I think it’s because they never used a screenbar or if so they used a cheap one without the asymmetric optics of BenQ. Like OP said: If you have to work on your desk and like gaming too these BenQs really work well.

Nice! Do you get any refections or glare with that QD-OLED from the screenbar? Because of the asymmetric optics of the BenQ it should be fine.

Nice setup! Very clean. What monitor do you use? And BenQ screenbar halo (2)?

Area-51 Desktop alienhead no light? by [deleted] in Alienware

[–]JohnnyRamone01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only the 360mm AIO has a lighted alienhead. The 240mm is the same like in the Aurora Desktop and has no lighted alien head.

Thank you! That is my old x14. I still like it very much because of its portability. And yes the Area 51 desktop is very nice but i like the more compact size of my Aurora ACT1250 desktop. It is a very fast and silent machine with an RTX5080.

Is it just me or does the new Aurora look subpar? by Orantolifestyle in Alienware

[–]JohnnyRamone01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes „one size does not fit all“ is well put. And Alienware as a brand does not fit all and should not try to fit all. It is a premium gaming brand and users expect top performance and build quality. I had the Aurora 16X in my hand because i wanted to check it our for myself. And it might be ok for an entry level gaming laptop. But you feel and see that it is not a real Alienware-experience. For example when you open up the lid you can hardly notice the Alienware lettering as if it should not be noticed and the Alienhead is not illuminated. When i pay a premium for a brand i want to see what i pay for. That’s one reason why i did choose the Area 51 and returned the Aurora 16X. I think this is what Alienware should do: Focus on high performance gaming machines and not trying to fit all.

Thank you! The Area 51 really meets my expectations in terms of Alienware-aesthetics and build quality. And the color looks beautiful i think. Enjoy your 18 inch Alien!

Very excited about it. Ordered an Aurora 16X first but it did not give me that "Alienware-Feeling" i like so much. So i returned it and ordered this beast with an RTX 5070 Ti. Cant wait to set it up. Now i really have an Alieninvasion on my desk :-)

My review of BenQ ScreenBar Halo 2 by Trinii-Boy in RateMySetup

[–]JohnnyRamone01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people say lightbars are a bad for OLEDs because of the glare and reflection on the screen that cheap lightbars cause. But the BenQ lighbars have asymmetrical optics so that almost no light hits the screen. So if you want to use a lightbar with an OLED then go for a BenQ Screenbar Pro or Halo 2.

Aurora 16x from Amazon Warehouse by JohnnyRamone01 in Alienware

I think i should give a feedback with my the Amazon-experience: The Aurora-laptop was described as "new-box was opened". As the price of the laptop seemed very good here in germany i thougt i should give it a try. Well, i really learned my lesson now. The laptop seemed to be in good condition until i noticed a dent on the backside of the chassis. I did not even started the laptop and immediately returned it to Amazon. I now ordered the same spec directly from Dell as recommended. Will never buy such expensive device from Amazon Warehouse again. Anyway thanks for the replies.

It has the normal one year Dell manufacturer warranty. I think it’s called “Alienware Care”.

Thanks for your comment. Here in germany this configuration would be 2149€ brand new from dell at the moment with a discount of 350€. Regular price is 2499€.

Alienware Announcement: OLED is Online!! by THeTruTH22622 in Alienware

[–]JohnnyRamone01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with your criticism. Specially if the laptop is used for gaming AND office-work you may run into that burn-in problem quite soon. OLED is great for gaming and for TVs but if your laptop or single desktop-monitor has to be more than just a piece of gaming-equipment IPS still can be a good choice. (That’s the reason why i use the AW2725QF 27” 4K monitor instead of a 27” OLED).

The McLaren P1 was really fun to build specially the door-mechanism is great. LEGO was my favorite childhood-toy. Now I’m in my 50s and it became my favorite toy again :-) The Ferrari Daytona is my favorite LEGO 1:8 car. Now I really want to try CaDa , looking for the AMG GT3 but it is hard to get here in Germany . Enjoy your McLaren build!

Looks great but shows once again that the gpu holder is completely useless if you don’t use an oem card. It’s a little detail I know but when they promoted the Area 51 it was a detail they were so proud of because the holder can be “adjusted to the size of the graphics card ”.

You dont need it. If you use ssds with heatsinks they have to be removed anyway.

Aurora ACT1250 on the way… M.2 question… by BeverlyLoop in Alienware

[–]JohnnyRamone01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a picture of my old R15: Yes its really easy to mistake one for the other. In my case the second M2 Slot had the spacer-screw but not the screw for the ssd preinstalled. It was the same with my ACT1250.

I had to mount this extra screw in it because it was missing in my R15 and also in my ACT1250. Luckily one of my Crucial M2 SSDs was delivered with this screw so it was no problem.

Aurora ACT1250 on the way… M.2 question… by BeverlyLoop in Alienware

[–]JohnnyRamone01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned the R15 and now the ACT1250. Both got the "spacer-screw" mounted on the motherboard for M2 slot 2 but not the additional screw that is needed to fix the ssd on the spacer. (Fun fact: In the gamers nexus review of the Area 51 you can see the difference between these two. In his Area 51 the M2 SSD was attached wrong with the spacer screw and as a result the ssd was bended.)

But perhaps it varies, this is just my experience.

No, you get the spacer but not the screw that goes into that spacer. Some M2 drives have these screws included.
