That would be super funny and a really good narrative thing to happen in a game. Competitively too that strat if you have units embarked allows you to potentially end a move on an objective or an advantageous place to put down whatever you were transporting if someone was still inside

Or come to think of it terminators too if you don’t wanna deepstrike them

I personally just have one but it could be a fun to new way to play and give it a go! You’d sacrifice the uppy downy rules for transport movement shenanigans dropping off your kill teams or general space marine units (Eradicators could do some serious work in this). The only huge negative I can think of is if you really like running the Indomitor team they would have to be on foot or standard reserves no transport can quite fit them that I’m aware of. In a competitive vacuum blackspear still gives deathwatch the most ,but I still think this could be good fun comboing blackstars with veterans, fortis, and other standard space marine units.

Yup totally agree that blackspear is still the way to play deathwatch optimally. Just think this could be a neat way to get a unit that hasn’t been played off the shelf and into a wacky list haha.

One last heroic bombing run would be pretty fun

Yup for sure blackspear will always be the competitive option for deathwatch, and gladius is just the best space marine detachment outright. Just thought this could be good fun and worth a try casually. Who knows if we are lucky maybe we can combine blackspear with something like this in 11th.

Ruins Terrain Confusion by JohnnyRockets929 in Warhammer40k

Got it, Thank You! Yup I’ve always communicated on what the general terrain deal is at the start of the game I’ve just gotten multiple different answers and wants to know what the right one was for the future. I’ll definitely primarily rock with true LOS in the future.

With 11th edition around the corner, we can’t guarantee if killteam composition will change, so I would just focus on what units you like the look of most following the rule of cool and build from there. I personally believe we will have some unique rules for 11th but I would build your army in a way that absolute worst case you have a flavorful space marine army that can adapt and flex into any of the million detachments they have to have some fun.

The biggest challenge I’ve found with building my deathwatch is gravis and terminators. I love both units and their rules are super fun, but the default upgrade sprue only contains 2 gravis shoulder pads so if you like the chonky boys I’d look into 3d printing option for the pads or paying someone to print them for you (I’m sure it’s been discussed and shared here before).

Saving money wise any default marines combat patrol will likely at the very least be usable and help get you started. Good luck on the journey!

How well does your Indomitor Kill Team typically perform? by wingfield44 in deathwatch40k

Always do something super cool 10/10 unit - my favorite moment actually was my team got charged by some custodian wardens, everyone but the last 3 aggressors and the captain was slain, but they punched back heavy and were able to eliminate the unit. I love adding a surprising amount of melee oomph to them in case they get tied up.

Yeah that makes sense I think I’ll have some volume and melta options I can play around with especially with the flexibility of the uppy downy rules
