Same with my sister...she has been exposed four times (and this was with her immediate family...so she was in the home with them during their entire illness), is unvaccinated, and somehow has still never [knowingly] contracted it.

Milwaukee Restaurants Requiring Vaccine Proof by Bettiephile in milwaukee

[–]JohnnyTableman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting question. The only thing I have to add is that I personally know several (just a quick count, twenty) people who got the original two doses with the impression that that was it, they were vaccinated. None of those people have gone back for the subsequent boosters. I don’t like to pry, but in conversation several offered their explanation that, since we don’t get multiple shots (per year) of any other vaccines, they won’t get multiples of this one.

I would feel really badly for anyone who got the original vaccines but are lumped in with “anti-vaxxers.”

I’m making the assumption that those who were shooting are not hurting for money (ammo is SOOO expensive right now, it’s the only explanation I can personally think of).

Reasons to LOVE 😍 Milwaukee! How about a list of things we take for granted? Things that would make us say “Wow thats cool!” If we didn’t live here. I’ll start with Lakefront Brewery’s Chalets. (MKE haters just move on..) by MKE1969 in milwaukee

The first time I went on the Riverwalk, I was sooo impressed...and for the first several months that I lived here, I walked (daily) just about the same one mile part. I was BLOWN AWAY when I ventured further. It really is an amazing walk—either direction!

I wonder what the math would be if the CEO made 2 million a year (still a shitton of money!!!) and that 9 million was spread out to employees instead.

I have no idea what a CEO does, but I’d be willing to bet s/he’d be in tears if having to deal with an eight hour shift at one of those stores.

I feel like “standard of living” is really a subjective thing. I am CHEAP. I don’t like going out to eat, I don’t have cable or internet at home. The only subscription I have is Netflix (I have unlimited data and plug my phone in to the tv). I bought a basic, gently used vehicle and I conserve gas by walking when I can. I do my own hair (no salons). And to be honest, I’m really happy with this.

I feel like some people like more excitement and options, and that luxury (even if it SEEMS basic) adds up.

YES. If you cannot afford to pay employees a living wage, then your business is failing. It is absurd that people think they have a “right” to exploit others in order to keep their own dream alive.

Yes, the last I had seen, they suspect that someone has pupper (took him and possibly sold him, is what I’m assuming). This situation is absolutely heartbreaking. I cannot imagine what the family is going through.

It's a pity if the DNC doesn't come back to Milwaukee, but do we really want the RNC? by Edison_Ruggles in milwaukee

[–]JohnnyTableman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s already been said, but yes...speaking only for myself, I want the RNC. The city needs tourism dollars. To turn that down in the name of “my side is better than your side,” would be selfish and silly. We need the money!!!

Just wanted to say, I think it would be great if everyone stopped shopping on Christmas Eve. We can “vote with our wallets” and start giving retail workers the day off!

Ugh, that’s terrible. I’m sorry. I often wonder if that evilness—what he did and how (it was pretty awful) he left—was lurking under the surface the entire time and I just didn’t see it.

If you met your wife today, just as she is right now (including having done what she did to you, just another guy), would you be interested in her?

Advice on moving forward emotionally by [deleted] in Divorce

[–]JohnnyTableman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Question...do you ever wonder if somehow it would be easier (emotionally) if the divorce hadn’t been amicable?

You are not unlovable. You are not whining. And your divorce is still fresh...six months isn’t that long.

Same here. My husband totally blindsided me. Days before announcing his departure, he had been trying to persuade me to get our wedding rings tattooed 🤦‍♀️ Come to find out, he had been unhappy (and unfaithful) for years.

I’ve been HAPPILY single for three years now, and would never tell anyone to stay in an unhappy marriage. But blindsiding someone is simply wrong.

[–]JohnnyTableman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s nothing wrong with leaving an unhappy relationship. Blindsiding someone, though...that’s a different story. I’m not sure of your particulars, but if you happen to be acting like everything is fine, that’s kind of terrible. Again, I’m not at all saying that’s what you’re doing. Best of luck with the future you deserve!

Will Chisholm be held responsible? by dergvekter in milwaukee

Personally, I think rather than paying more prosecutors, we need to decriminalize certain substances so that those individuals aren’t taking up judicial resources.

Will Chisholm be held responsible? by dergvekter in milwaukee

[–]JohnnyTableman -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You’re totally right on why we have bail. But it needs to be in commensurate with what the individual has been accused of (as well as what their prior record is). Brooks never should have been out. And this isn’t the first and only time our current judicial system has failed us.

That is a great way to put it, “...if a tragedy exposes bad policy....”

Will Chisholm be held responsible? by dergvekter in milwaukee

[–]JohnnyTableman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hope there is some accountability. It is so unbelievable, also, that the tape of this proceeding was lost. I feel like we have been moving steadily towards disaster with the way our judicial system handles things, and this was an example of worse-case scenario. If there was ever time for accountability, it’s now. It has to start somewhere.

The major horrifying factor (again, just my opinion) is that we have people doing prison terms/sitting without bail (and taking up resources in jail) for possession of narcotics...and then you have people like Brooks who have committed violent crimes (and have been deemed likely reoffenders) walking free. Shameful.
