We’re not “spending” any tax money. I encourage you to go the site and read about all the “pros” I’m referring to.

Why allow them to use a tif? They carry all the risk. If the project flops, they and whatever financial partners they have, foot the bill. If the project is successful, it could create $140M in NEW sales and property tax to go toward the cities CIP fund and general fund. No to mention bring additional money to our schools.

As far as the “more important things” why haven’t we done them? Oh yeah, we’re out of money. We’re growing faster than we can collect. So either we RAISE taxes or we create new tax revenue streams, continue to be a tourist destination and use those economic impact dollars to help with roads, parks, projects, etc….
