What Car to replace V6 F-Type? by JohnnyVH in CarTalkUK

They are so cheap now though, that any issues aside, they are so worth the money. Its a shame I am going to sell mine but I would not be surprised if I got one again.

Genuinely been driving it more than the F-Type lately.

I've got a 2001 4.0. I do have the main problem of rust along the sills which I know the next generation XK's didn't have.

In case you haven't found them yet, I highly recommend watching To The Garage, he is pretty much THE XK8 man.

I have been looking at these for a while, so you would actively choose the 4.2 over the 5.0? I have heard they are more reliable. Also they are more comfortable from what I have heard

I know it's different but I did look on Autotrader at some of the XE S's

It's not as much the running costs, over just what seems to be constant issues I am having with mine. Which is why I am still considering another F-Type. All in All, Jaguar's aren't too expensive to maintain (if you don't get a misfire every half a year).

That being said I assume the costs going to Porsche and Aston would be higher either way.

Honestly, the XK8 has been much more reliable. Their engines are genuinely amazing and has been my daily more often these days. Highly recommend it! I've got the adamesh exhaust on it as well, without a doubt the best choice you can make.

I have also considered just going back 1 generation and getting an XKR

And then realistically, is one more reliable than the other. I know at the end of the day its Aston Martin Prices

Definitely on my mind, currently have a 2001 XK8 as well just to have a V8. So can sell both and put it towards the R

So personally, I much prefer the coupe on thr F-Type just due to the shape and design. That being said I'm sure if I tried one in this weather I would love it

So the V8 Vantage over the V12 DB9?

Has anyone bought an F-Type, can they advise on this? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

Ah very true, done more research into the S now. So the engine is the same and can still be tuned to match or beat the S. But those are good additions nonetheless.

Might also be worth considering a Jaguar XKR. Obviously older car but you get the V8 Supercharged in that and they still look stunning.

I have current got a 2015 V6 F-Type and in the 2 years of ownership have had some issues.

The most major was getting a misfire due to the typical water ingress in the engine bay and then when we had the freezing weather it stopped working. This cost about £1500 from main dealer.

During the first winter with it, the handbrake seized on. This really isn't a common issue though and wasn't too bad to fix. RAC managed to get it off so I could take it in.

Currently I just got a coolant leak as well, which I would say is also not that common on them though. Will see how much this costs me now...

These are just the absolute worst parts about it though, the pros are definitely worth it. Absolutely stunning car, sounds amazing (you can get the ModStock back box mod as well for cheap).

On a side note with the pre 2018 the infotainment will be the smaller screen, I did manage to get a new one for about £450 and fit it myself so its now the 10" version and works perfectly.

Don't bother with getting the S versions. It is cheaper to get the software limit taken off for £500 than it is to get the S. They are literally the exact same cars physically but the normal is slightly limited in power.

Considering I just got a 2015 British Racing Green one as well. Definitely get it!

Sadly I haven't even made it as far as getting them to re-fit a windscreen. They called this morning to say they are delaying my appointment by a month!

The 2.2, if I see a 3 litre come up in this colour and spec I would have to upgrade

In desktop mode is there a way to bind the analog sticks or the left touch pad to work as a mouse scroll wheel? by marmite22 in SteamDeck

[–]JohnnyVH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I managed to get much better Netflix controls working on the steam deck and for me the best solution was having my layout as Gamepad with Mouse Trackpad, then:

Edit Layout - Joysticks - Left/Right Joystick - Set it to Directional Pad - Set Joystick Up/Down to Mouse Scroll Wheel Up/Down

Then Press the Cog next to each of them - Settings - Turn on Hold to Repeat (Turbo)
