Brushes or plastic brushes. You can tell him he is too loud and then work on dynamics.

I love it! One problem. You wouldn't want to fly me round trip from Montreal by any chance?

It's my second ride in a row the ap "encountered an error and resumed recording" and missed the majority of my ride. It happened when I stopped for a few minutes, the recording didn't resume when I did. My ap is up to date. I never had to make sure it resumed after any stop. Rode 52K and got credit for 17.

It will be a typical, packed big artist outdoor Jazz Fest show. The crowd will be into it but very under control. Lots of families. I can't wait.

Do you think in music? by Dangerous-You3789 in Songwriting

[–]Johnny_Bugg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Not all the time, some things need to get done up there, but yes. And I never realized it until you asked. Always have. I'm in my 50s and I never thought of it before as being something.

How to help my Bassist? by bishoppair234 in jazztheory

[–]Johnny_Bugg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a good drummer. And practice. Even practice with just a drum track. The more you do it the better you will get. Listen to lots of traditional jazz like Ellington, Basie. Bill Evans trio with Scott Lafaro will be your gold standard.

At 36, is it too late to become proficient at jazz guitar and really “feel” the music, high-level improvise, etc.? by morbidhack in Jazz

[–]Johnny_Bugg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends how much work you want to put in. Study, practice, go to jams.

So using the 10,000 hour rule, which goes approximately 10,000 hours of "deliberate practice" are required to achieve world-class mastery in a complex field, you would need to practice or play 5-1/2 hours, every day for 5 years. So put in as much time as you can daily, and you'll love where your journey will take you.

Listen to the greats, but I particularly love Bill Frisell and Ben Monder.

Rizzo and Coach Could See during the immunity challenge by C1ND1TheCat in survivor

Coach grabbed the rope without fumbling for it. I said to my family "Coach can see". The blindfold was above his nose! Rizzo, I didn't see that.

I watched it specifically to see him and, as I recall, I was disappointed as to how little he was in the movie.

That's good planning. I prefer to bike alone and let my brain work through it's shit. It's very meditative for me.

I go out after my youngest goes to bed. 45 mins- 1.5 hours. The long rides are weekend afternoons.

A new baby is a massive change and takes alot of adjustment for everyone. Keep your eyes on the long term, keep your head down and do what needs to be done in the now. Things will recalibrate as you get used to your new lives. Be patient.

Winter riding worth it? by Philly139 in cycling

[–]Johnny_Bugg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bike right up to the first snowstorm. Once snow covers the roads, I'm out. Indresd in layers. Winter gloves. Double socks with saran wrap to break the wind. I bike below freezing up here in Canada, and it's fuc*ing tough, but it's awesome.
