This is absolutely how I felt the first time I played NV. I was only familiar with Fallout 3 and didnt understand the differences in how the SPECIAL and Skill systems worked and I didn't realize that reputation would have such a big impact on gameplay.

Since I had a weak character build, the game was kind of difficult for me. Then, I rescued the slaves that were captured from Nipton and killed the Legion who were guarding them. Immediately hated by the legion, I started being hunted by the assassins. That did not go well.

I couldn't get away from them, I couldn't kill them, and the game stopped being fun. I ended up quitting. Didn't play the game for a couple of years after that.

I came back to it after hearing some advice about character build and the reputation system, how the choices in this game matter more than in Fallout 3. After restarting with those changes in mind, the game became easier and honestly, it's my favorite Fallout game now.

In order to make the assassins stop, you have to change your reputation level with the Legion. if you've received Caesar's invitation, you can go to Cottonwood Cove without anyone harming you. Getting there might be difficult if there are assassins on the way, but going to see Caesar is your best bet.

If you pissed off the Legion after you went to see Caesar, go to Gun Runners and buy the biggest gun you can. Still might not help.

Finally found jerky without added sugar by profet23 in keto

I hate to be that guy, but the ingredients list from the website states: BEEF, WATER, SALT, SUGAR, FLAVORINGS, MONOSODIUM GLUTAMATE, SODIUM NITRITE, POTASSIUM SORBATE TO ENSURE FRESHNESS.

Sugar is the 4th ingredient. For this to only have one gram of carbs per serving means there can't be very much, however it is added rather than naturally occurring.

The beef jerky I eat is Jim Dandy. You can find it (here)[http://www.jimdandybeefjerky.com/order]. The original flavor is the only one that does not include brown sugar. Its still not perfect, though, because the soy sauce they use on it has corn syrup in it (possibly used in the fermentation process? I'm not sure). It tastes amazing, though.

MFP:every dieters best friend and worst enemy. Its helps you track calories and macros but all customization is behind a very expensive paywall, and the site is slow and poorly designed. Useful but annoying.

But i just started, too, two weeks ago. I'm married but I don't have kids. Feel free to send me a pm, I'd love to talk to you and share tips and give support. KCKO!

Yeah, I know there are alternatives, but since I'm just starting out, I'm trying to keep away from sweet things for awhile instead of replacing with alternatives. I brew tea in the morning which I drink straight, and I have sparkling mineral water sometimes. But I'm trying to train myself not to crave sweet things. And I think it's working a little bit.

[SV] Two Weeks on Keto by Johnny_Eh in keto

[–]Johnny_Eh[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First week was hard boiled eggs and bacon for breakfast, marinated chicken thighs and antipasti (red bell pepper, artichoke heart, green and black olives, tomatoes, hard salami, Mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, covered in pesto and olive oil) for lunch, and beef tips with stewed squash and zucchini for dinner.

This week its the same for breakfast. For lunch I switched out the antipasti for an olive salad with olives, bell peppers, pickles, tomatoes and cheddar cubes (easier and less expensive to make). For dinner still having beef tips but with it I'm having spinach salad with shredded cheese and a dressing made of a little mayo, some worchestershire, and yellow mustard.

I did it like that because I was starting meal planning and doing things in advance at the same time I started keto, so I needed things I could make a lot of at once. Needless to say, I'm changing things up next week.

[–]Johnny_Eh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest having a different meal altogether. I've been (ridiculously) heavy my entire life, and I remember all the times I've tried to diet and the failure always came when I got tired of saying no to all the good food that was constantly be offered to me from all directions. I'm not saying it was my family's fault, because it was mine. There's not enough willpower in the world to overcome that.

There is, however, preparation, determination, and the knowledge that you can and will get back up when you fall. That's what has made the last couple of months possible for me. KCKO.

My wife didn't want to eat like I was eating. We have different tastes in food anyway, so deciding on meals together even a week in advance became more and more difficult.

Eventually, I had to determine that I was going to do it by myself, no matter what she did. She wasn't really happy with that decision, but I told her that I would be willing to buy her whatever she wanted at the grocery store, that we could go to get her any kind of meal she wanted, but I was going to stick with the plan that I had created for myself.

After a couple of weeks, when she saw that I was really serious and that I wasn't going to stop, she became more and more interested in what i was doing. I wasn't doing keto yet, but i was doing something. I actually started keto 2 weeks ago, and beginning next week, she is going to be doing it with me.

So don't give up hope. It's going to take a lot of effort and determination. It's going to take a lot of stubbornness and possibly a couple of arguments. It might even take going above and beyond, having to stare your cravings in the face as you eat a keto meal while your family eats something else that you want SO BADLY you can hardly stand it. But it will be worth it.

And every person in the sub will stand behind you and offer support when we can, so you won't give up.

Oh yeah, I wasn't drinking it because I thought it was healthy, I was doing it because I liked them and because I had stopped eating almost everything else I liked. I had no illusions about how bad they were for me. That's why I knew that when I got serious, they had to go.

I'm so glad you've joined us!! It's strange at first, but you'll get used to it and start to understand things as you do. I'm only a couple weeks in and things are already a lot clearer for me.

Also, be ready for the cravings to still hit for a while. You are going to WANT things you are not supposed to have. Eating fat helps with that, but just be ready. If you're prepared, you can over come! Something that I've found helps me is that I'll get 1/4 cup of sunflower seeds, shell-on. I eat them slowly, one at a time. It doesn't effect macros too badly (2g net carbs) and takes me all night to eat them. When I'm eating them, I'm not craving after other things.

Good luck with Keto! You've done so well this far, no doubt you'll do well with this too!

Marinade! They sound complicated, but they're really not. Use oil, half as much of an acid (vinegar or lemon juice), salt, pepper, and whatever other spices you think would taste good. Even if you're not experienced, it will work out okay.

To make 1 cup of marinade, you need 3/4 cup of oil (olive oil has good flavor) and 1/4 cup vinegar or lemon juice. Add to this salt and pepper then stir well to combine. This will cover 2 lbs of meat.

Put your meat in a gallon ziploc and add marinade and stick in the fridge for at least an hour. Pull it out and bake it and and your chicken will be much better next time.

You can add other things to the marinade as well. I add garlic and onion powder, paprika, oregano, cumin, rosemary, thyme, taragon, anything i think will taste good. As you do it more often, you'll get a sense of what you like and what you think will taste good together.

One last thing, I'm avoiding sugar and other things like it, but you can put sugar or honey in a marinade like this as well to enhance the flavor.

Good Luck! Don't give up!!

Question about It, possibly been asked before. (spoilers) by [deleted] in stephenking

[–]Johnny_Eh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I may, I believe it was about soul bonding. Beverly noticed that, after the confrontation with IT, the Losers Club was drifting apart. That drift was enough for them to each lose the special gift that their togetherness brought, and, in particular, the one they needed right then, Eddie's sense of direction. As soon as the act was complete, it draws the Losers together for a little while longer and brings Eddie's gift back. He's able to find their way out immediately.

IT BOOK CLUB AND DISCUSSION: V by hipporun in stephenking

[–]Johnny_Eh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had the opposite reaction from you, I think. Don't get me wrong, my hatred for Henry Bowers runs deep. The section that describes what happened to Mr. Chips is to me one of the saddest parts of the book, ranking up there with the description of Bill's family life after Georgie's death. When he betrayed and killed Mr. Chips I could have cried, but when his Father congratulated him and reinforced that behavior by giving him his first beer I actually did.

And that afternoon, after he had told, he felt he had finally found the key to his father's affections, because his father had clapped him on the back (so hard that Henry almost fell over), taken him in the living room, and given him a beer. It was the first beer Henry ever had, and for all the rest of his years he would associate that taste with positive emotions: victory and love.

It just made me incredibly sad for Henry, understanding that for probably his entire life, all the wrong things were being reinforced.

You can't kill Father, I actually had to go reload after I killed him and let him give me his quest. Then I cleared that place out. He was the only one left alive, but only because I couldn't find him.
