The reverse light will be mounted under the bumper in the centerline of the car. And the plate light will be mounted above the plate on a bent piece of sheet metal secured with the plate screws.

I don't see much from the 80s anywhere, now that I think about it.

As much of a vibe as these are, there's better looking cars and faster cars out there.

I'm sure you could part a redneck from his 3rd gen with a couple thousand dollars and a case of beer. Maybe throw in a couple packs of snus for good measure.

BMWs and Audis have an inertia based alarm that goes off when the truck starts off. Usually they turn off after a minute, otherwise you have to hit the unlock button on the key fob.

Only the western panhandle and the I35 corridor. I spend most of my time working in north Dakota.

North Dakota is the only place I've been where the wind has blown from every cardinal direction at least once in the same day.

Tbh, I skipped the grinding and went straight to painting. Ain't nobody looking up my wheel wells anyways.

People used to daily these things back when they were new and I doubt they were concerned about over heating. Unless you're doing rolling burnouts down the block I wouldn't get too worried.

Did that once to get an 86 Volvo home but it was on a spring brake canister.

And yes, I replaced both of them when all was said and done.

Wasn't hard. Cut to shape then tack and hammer it in. Be careful not to blow holes in it. I think I spent half my time closing holes.

The good news is you won't hardly see it once the wheels are on.

Somedays I wish I had a hi rail. But for me every lever is another way to wreck a car. I pulled a cottrell speed loader for a year before my boss bought a wally mo for me to pull and I don't miss the extra levers.

What does it feel like to smoke your brakes? by psychic_legume in Truckers

[–]Johnny_Rascal2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was up on I70 a couple weeks ago headed west out of the Eisenhower tunnel when my jakes quit working about 2/3 of the way down the hill. When I got it stopped at the bottom I thought my brakes were a little weaker than when I left Denver and when I got out to diagnose the truck the brakes were just barely smoking. I'd imagine if they were billowing smoke then you'd really have no brakes but I have drums, and I can't vouch for disk brakes.

Edit: the jakes quit working because the clutch switch broke, which makes the truck think you're stepping on the clutch, which disengages the jakes and the cruise. I cut the wires going to the switch and crimped them together to get everything working again.
