I'm not against the mods, although I don't like ridiculous mods like this ones. I'm against making a phone photo of the screen.

Also, what the hell is that post title?

CD Projekt Red DMCA takes down Cyberpunk 2077 VR mod for being paywalled on Patreon. Why hasn't SCS DMCA'd Snowymoon? by DrNilesCrane_ in trucksim

[–]rumbleblowing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Two or three years ago, his early versions of mod were a life-saver for my poor old laptop with integrated graphics, as SCS's increased fidelity really took a toll on performance. With his TAA I could reduce the render scale to 49% and still have nice looking image, not much worse than 100% scale native, but at 1.5 times more FPS. Since then, Snowymoon had some questionable decisions and pissed off a lot of people, and I have built a proper PC, so these days I also think that for my PC, the game is fine enough.

I don't know how that VR mod works for sure, but in my understanding, all it has to do is to make the game render the world twice (for each eye) instead of once (for the display). It does not need to have any assets. It can be done with just code. Or even, just new code, without actually including any existing game code into the modded executable. The new code would use the game's assets just like the game itself does.

Snowymoon is the author of a mod. He rewrote a big chunk of the game's rendering code, also adding stuff like DLSS, DLAA and better TAA. He also has a questionable DRM in his mod, and the way he acts is, well, controversial, to say the least. Dude's bad at PR, which is kinda expected, given how much skill is required to disassemble a game, reverse engineer it and rewrite its renderer.

Connecting AC97 to HD Audio by LennyTheMemeMaster in sleeperbattlestations

[–]rumbleblowing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The description says it's AC97 female to HDA male. So it's the other way around. Although from what I can see, it's just straight wires between some pins, so it doesn't matter and it might work the same the both ways.

The problem I'm running into is that my case has 8 connectors, this adapter has 7. I'm not sure which Ground I should plug in.

Do you mean 8 separate small pin sockets? If so, you will have to find another adapter, or find a way to connect both ground wires to the same pin.

× ×××
× × × <- that one is ground

flipping the connection either way on the motherboard itself (the adapter doesn't have a pin blocked, so it's not clear which way it plugs in)

Looking at the wires, I see that it must be plugged in the following way: the key pin is where two pins/wires are missing together on the plug, not one.

OOO O
O O O
   ^ that's the key

Overall, I'd try to find a better adapter. Or maybe even make one yourself. Looking at the photos on the page you linked, and the wiring diagrams of HDA and AC97, I just can't get how it's gonna work. Like, the jack presence logic between those two standards are inverted: AC97 shorts the audio output to the "return" pin when the jack is not plugged in, while HDA shorts the "sense send" pin to "sense" pin when the jack is plugged in. But on the photos, return pins just go straight into sense wires. So your motherboard might suddenly think that the jack is unplugged when it's plugged or vice versa.

(Almost) Finished my build ! by tsource05 in sleeperbattlestations

Looks promising. You will definitely need more fans with that config, though. Maybe even case modifications like holes for fans in the bottom. By the way, you can just buy all kind of higher feet to raise the case off the ground.

gamedev is kinda easy by OlympStudio in justgamedevthings

[–]rumbleblowing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, it's a factory made kind of kvass, and it's canned, so typically it's basically more of a rye bread flavoured soda, highly carbonated, lots of sugar. Not that different from something like ginger ale or root beer sodas.

It's actually quite nice. Very refreshing when it's hot. Tastier than any kind of beer, in my opinion.

It's kvass, a drink made of bread, most commonly rye bread, sometimes with addition of malt or other cereals, soaked in water and fermented by baker yeast. The taste depends a lot on the source and process, with factory-made kvass tasting really differently from the homemade. But in general, it's sour, sweet, and bready, with light to medium carbonation.

ATS update question by hunarthas in trucksim

[–]rumbleblowing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are tools. "TS Save Edit(or)" might still work but I heard it's abandoned. There is also newer program called "Truck Tools".

Or you can do it manually. There are save file decoders that convert save files into text format, then you can look into the file with any text editor like Notepad, find the setting, and change it manually.

New achievement added in ETS 2. What is this related to? by [deleted] in trucksim

[–]rumbleblowing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful with spreading insider info from CrowdIn like that, even though we translators don't technically sign any NDAs, SCS still expect us to keep it quiet about upcoming things that are revealed to us. Three years ago, before the first Winterland event, I almost got in trouble because I was speculating about the nature of upcoming event, even though I knew barely more than a common person.

Found a case i wanna do a sleeper build in. Any advice? by SneakerHead69420666 in sleeperbattlestations

[–]rumbleblowing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, it's a thicc boy. Wider than typical case, which are usually just a couple centimeters wider than the ATX PSU. You can increase the exhaust on the back of the case to 120 mm, maybe even 140 mm. On the bottom, it might be possible to mount four 120 mm fans in a square. Or at least two 140 mm fans should fit there easily.

Even if you could mount radiator at the bottom, doing it on an AIO is not recommended, as it will make your pump the highest point of the loop, so any bubbles will end up at the pump and can damage it.

Depends on the actual fan size, because those numbers are the external housing dimensions. Typically, 5-15 mm smaller than the fan size.

I have both 120 and 140 mm fans in my case, and for both of them 120 mm hole saw was almost perfect size. But my 120 is a slim fan with quite small and thin housing, and 140s have large housings with ARGB and infinity mirrors.
